Its like my wife and I having problems and during counseling some guy sweeps her off her feet. She's vulnerable at that moment and she's MY wife so stay the heck away.
I dont know. No one leaves a relationship they love unless they want to or are forced to. The willingness to leave has to be there in the first place.

Your correct...we don't know DB's intentions but we DO know it is against NCAA rules. So the preponderance of evidence goes against DB. The perception alone should have told DB to stay away.

Lee..IF DB had only good intentions why not be up front from the start...phone JL...phone KK and say here's whats going on. A courtesey call would have been nice. What if roles had been reversed and JL was calling some UNM stud that was having problems.....?

Do you honestly want to know why? Cause it happens all the time. Guys with connections to former players, coaches, etc. talk to people they know--even if they are at a different school. Its not a big deal. Honestly its not.

Im not a fan of dragging Duane Broussard through the mud.

Just curious how often do these "friendly" calls to former coaches players etc end up with the player leaving his current program and ending up enrolled at the school the former coach happens to work for?

I have a feeling, regardless of the NCAA stance on what happened to BU, they would have a big huge problem with Shumpert receiving uninitiated calls from JL, just because JL used to know him, GTech might have a slight problem with that also.

Personally Broussard has not been drug through the mud enough for what he did to Bradley.

Egib52, who were the players graduating that Danny didn't get along with?

It happens a decent amount of time. To me its not a major deal. Everyone can have their own opinion--obviously. That's great. I've stated mine. I was lucky enough to know Duane when he was at Bradley. He was a nice guy from my interactions.

Good luck to Danny in the All-Star Game. He was fun to watch.

I could have sworn when I saw NM play at Texas Tech Broussard was on the NM bench, he looked like he was coaching... maybe he is just a water boy now.

Director of Operations is a direct relationship to the NM basketball program, he lost his "coaching" job only because of the firing of McKay. Not sure what he did the one year he was away from coaching, but he sits on the NM bench nightly during games.

BTW without the Undergraduate degree he earned with a basketball scholorship from Bradley he would not have any opportunity to pursue a PhD, and likely any sort of profession within coaching college basketball. He owes a lot to Bradley, and he repays the school by stabbing it in the back.

                Ya he is a saint.

The fallout of all that probably hurt his career, and the lousy job that McKay & Broussard did at New Mexico even though they had an All Conference player and future NBA'er ended up getting McKay canned, although somehow Broussard hung on and now works for Alford.
It's old news, but it all did happen, yet somehow there are yet people and even some in the press that want to blame people at BU for all this.
I haven't seen anything in the press written about this in the recent past. Are there new articles out there blaming BU for this?

I dont "blame" anyone. Danny didn't want to play at Bradley anymore for whatever reason. It happens. He left. Everyone moved on.

Yes you move on but there are valuable lessons to be learned from the past. It never bothe ed me that DG wanted to move on....thats fine. What bothered me was the laughable pentalty handed down to DB for his infraction.

DG should have NEVER been allowed to step on the UNM campus...EVER. They sent DB to some "course" to educate him on the rules of using cell phones while a memeber of an NCAA coaching staff. It STILL makes me laugh. A NCAA coach that has to be educated about making contact with a player under scholorship at another University.....and the NCAA wonders why so many don't take them seriously and why guys like K. Sampson are still out there.

WOW...thats quite a deterent for DB and OTHERS to live by.....if we cheat we'll STILL get our guy but we have to attend some silly seminar or rules mtg for a few hours. GIMME a break.

So yes we should all "move on" but becuase the NCAA is week and hypocrytical we will never get to move on until someone puts there foot down when obvious and blatant cheating takes place.

Some people say the former Govenor of Illinois was a great guy....while I'm NOT comparing DB to RB the point is seemingly great guys cheat or run afoul of the law. When they do they deserve punishment. Allowing DG to play for UNM trumped ANY punishment ( I laugh when I use that word in this case) the NCAA handed down and rendered it totally ineffective from that point on.

I heard the report this morning and the name of the reporter caught my ear. His name was Chris Broussard. In looking at his biography it looks like Chris grew up in the Midwest while Duane grew up in Texas so I don't know that they are related. Just struck me as incredibly ironic.
