What local talent did he ever get?

Mo didn't like recruiting local players, he always said there's too much pressure on him to play them and too much pressure on the kids to perform. Versace never recruited many local players either, the only one I remember off hand was Trevor Trimpe.

I don't care where they come from as long as they're good students and can play.

Don't forget Eddie Matthews from Brimfield, and Gus Mason from Peoria. They were Versace recruits.
Dick concentrated on Chicago, and by 1984-85 season more than half of the roster (8 players) were Chicago kids.

I'm with Murph. I don't care where they come from as long as they can play, get good grades, and keep their nose clean.

Both Mo and Les had decent players.

BU is cursed by being the lone program in such a hoops hotbed, in that it gets all the attention from all the local HS coaches/fans.

Mo didn't want to take a chance on marginal D-1 players from the local area.
he recruited several very hard and they all went BCS...Vershaw,Koch,Grimm come to mind. I'm sure there were a few others.

Not sure how he fit in Mo's plans from the juco route and EIU was the only school that offered from what I know. Plus he did so so at EIU

Would you have prefered we lost to Kansas and POB stayed?
The Kansas game wasn't the reason P.O.B. went to the N.B.A. It was the pitt game.

I just think Losing P.O.B. was totally unexpected, and JL had to completely rethink how he was going to recruit. We still haven't got to where he wants to be.

I think with the recruits he has coming in we have a good start.

It was not just the loss of Plan A POB, it was the earlier known losses of plans B (SS to another injury) and C (XC did not qualify)

I didn't think there was much hope in XC coming here
