  • Valley RPI...

Now that the teams are playing each other.....the Valley has dropped to #9 and SOS to #9.....if the teams do not do well in the BracketBuster the league will be in bad shape IMO!

The only team this could affect is Northern Iowa.
IMO, every other team must win the MVC tournament to get an NCAA bid.
UNI might still get an at-large if they can finish several games ahead of everyone else, and maybe sustain 3 or fewer losses in the league.
But, as usual, a lot depends on unknown factors such as how many tournament upsets turn 1-bid leagues into 2-bid leagues.

UNI's "projected RPI" is to be 65. That's with a projected record of 16-2 in the league.
Creighton is projected to be 55th in the RPI with a record of 24-7/13-5.

ISU is projected to be 52nd at 23-7/12-6.

A projected RPI of 62, with zero quality wins, losses to UIC and at home to Indy State, coupled with a 30 point beatdown put on them by Marquette at a neutral site...

That resume will NOT get UNI an at large bid for the NCAA Tourney...I don't even think it will be that close, to be honest. The Valley is down...so if you have no top 50 wins, a few bad losses, and a mediocre RPI, that regular season Valley title isn't going to mean a thing to the Selection Committee.

Win the Valley Tourney and you are in the NCAA Tournament...that is the one and only hope all Valley teams have this year.

I told you the A-10 would pass us.

See, this is where BB matters. We get a TV game and a RPI 100 opponent instead of a 150....could be the difference between 8th and 9th

I agree. I really agree that the MVC is down this year, and we are in 4th place. That says a lot. A loss or two on the upcoming road trip and we could be back to the 5-6 spot or even down to the play-in game. CBI is looking like a dream right now. My guess is there will be no postseason this year unless the right upsets happen in the MVC tourney and we somehow sneak out with some wins.
