I reserve the right to change my opinion.......... so I am

I would now vote for Booker Woodfox based on his continued success and impact and the leadership he has provided to Creighton in leading them to a terrrific Valley finish.

      Exactly!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Here is a good discussion of the MVC Player of the Year race by the writer for Indiana State.

KW writes about some Valley stuff today- his pick is Shy Ely
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

Here is what Kirk Wessler says in his column today (Wed. 2/25)-
              4. All-Valley
All-conference ??” Jonathan Cox (Drake), Osiris Eldridge (Illinois State), Shy Ely (Evansville), Theron Wilson (Bradley), Booker Woodfox (Creighton).
Freshman of the year ??” Kevin Dillard (Southern Illinois).
Defensive player of the year ??” Wilson.
Player of the year ??” Ely.
And I??™d be holding my Coach of the Year vote to see who best distinguishes himself in the final week: Marty Simmons (Evansville) or Ben Jacobson (Northern Iowa).

I see a lot of room this year for differences of opinion, since there has not been a standout performer. I would vote for Woodfox for POY, and I would put Oguchi on the first team All-MVC instead of Osiris Eldridge.
King-O, who was the preseason pick for the POY, was just 3-13 last night in their big game at home for a chance to pull into a tie with UNI. And he was an embarrassing 1-12 against Niagara in the nationally televised game on ESPN2. He does not lead the Redbirds in any key category. He second to Oguchi in scoring, and 8th on the team in shooting percentage.

Also, I would not put Cox on the first team...
He is among the league leaders in just one stat...rebounds, but his scoring average of 11.5 in conference play and FG Shooting Pct. of just 43% are unimpressive.
Maybe if his team was among the Valley leaders, but Drake sits in 7th place.
Their 17 wins are a bit misleading as one is vs. a DI that's way below .500 and nine wins are against a non-conference SOS that ranked 286th - almost as bad as Illinois State's.

I certainly think both Adam Koch and Kwadzo Ahelegbe deserve mention ahead of Cox, especially Koch, whose scoring average (12.1) and shooting pct. (49.8%) are better than Cox'.

also OE does lead the team in shots attempted and is the leader in turnovers among non-PG's

There is no doubt O has taken himself out of the POY talks with his play the last few games... but he may still be working himself into the D POY... I doubt he will get it, but he has to be in the talks IMO

I'd give it to Koch...even though on a normal year he probably wouldn't deserve it...
