IMO, Les. Jank hasn't been around enough to make a case. he didn't recruit his best player, and has a bloated record against a very weak schedule.

this is not a knock on Jank... in a few years, I may feel otherwise. Les has continued to show improvement, and right now, I think he's the better coach.

I've said before IMO JL has not done bad but hasn't done real good either based upon records,conference and tourney finishes.

I like Jank so far but it's too hard for me to compare right now.

Well, Les has had to create a completely new offensive strategy twice now, due to personnel losses that weren't his fault. he's also recruited some good talent. he's improved as an in-game strategist.

he's not perfect, but he has shown improvement.

I wonder if you're not trying to start a masked "fire jim les" thread, where you ask people what's so great about him, then make efforts to refute whatever is said?

I think Les has improved a great deal as a coach. It's hard to evaluate Jank after this short time. He's proven without a doubt that his teams can crush cupcakes with the best of them. ISU has also looked a little soft on the road in the MVC (something I can't accuse this BU team of). Right now it's clear for me: Les.

Murph, I don't think that JL is there yet. However, I thought that he was really weak the first couple of years. But, I see improvement is every facet of his coaching from recruiting to tightening up the overall flow of the game. However, as I said, he is not there yet.

They're each 2-2 against the other. I say we call it even! Or you could give the slight edge to JL for beating Kansas when Jank was an assistant.

nah...I'm mellowing with age.

I think other than a 12-15 game run one year(which was great) he's done OK. Nothing special nothing really bad either. We need to pick it up some for sure next year

A year from now if we have this record it might be a different story..... I got other things to worry about until then

ISU, arguably, has the most talented roster in the Valley. All that Jank hasn't gotten out of this underachieving group is a boat load of underwhelming wins against bad low major teams. Now that I think about it, the same could be said for Creighton which has also underachieved with an extremely talented roster. Les, on the other hand, has shown tremendous flexibility in adapting BU's scheme to match the skill set of its players. He arguably has gotten much more out of this years team than should be expected in light of the injury situation. My vote goes for Les.

Unlike the Jim Les v. a certain other Valley coach thread ... I completely agree that Les should be considered the better coach at this point.

I like to think about it this way ... if BU and ISU switched rosters, Les would likely be in first place but I doubt Jankovich would be doing as well with Bradley's players. Les has learned how to win on the road, which ISU doesn't seem to have harnessed yet.
