I think he will struggle but he has to get playing time. I hate to say this as I am not giving up on next year but we need him ready to go in two year when we get J. Fears and D. Williams. I think if everything falls into place we could see another run in the NCAA's in two years.........Xavier needs to be ready and needs to play this year.

As I remember, this guy has not really played much competetive B-Ball the last two years. Before going to Boys to men in 2004-2005, I remember, he did not play very much in North Carolina, as was mentioned on previous posts.
As far as his Boys to Men carreer, it seems we had trouble finding out if he was REALLY there due to lack of playing time.
The same for Jassey, he was ineligible his Senior year in High school, due to a transfer ruling. Then last year he was "redshirted."
In reality, Les was probably one recruit away from jettisoning Jassey.
The other reality being, we really need some productive minutes out of these guys in 06'-07'.

almost forgot about ray brown. maybe he can come on this season.
Of course another shoe could drop, throwing everything out of whack. We are 4 long months away from REALITY.

Xavier Crawford should see significant minutes as a freshman. He's a legit 6'10", 220 lbs. That's about as big as POB was as a freshman. He's also farther along coordination-wise than POB was at this point before his freshman year (according to Jim Les). Is he going to be POB? Probably not. It would be unfair to put those kind of expectations on him. But if he works hard, he should find time in an already-thin frontcourt. Who knows, everyone was talking about redshirting this O'Bryant kid a couple of years ago...so ya never know with kids of this size and ability.
I posted some pictures of Xavier in another thread. Here's the link -

Seems like he's a lot thinner then POB was coming in, and doesn't appear to have as much potential as POB had to put on some extra weight. His frame just doesn't look as good as POB's was. I'm still excited about him. No big expectations from him though.

Disagree
I disagree. His body is much more muscular than POB's. Kinda has the look of an Alonzo Mourning (hope he plays half as good). I've got a good feeling about this kid. If he can keep his grades up I think he will be a dominating player in The Valley before he's through.
I can already see him swatting away shots and rebounding with an animal-like tenacity............

I am kind of in the middle on X. There are too many unknowns surrounding him. He's been bouncing around high schools, and hasn't played much in the past couple of years. He's also 6'10" and athletic. I am not going to place any expectations on him just yet, but I think it's hard to go wrong by taking a chance on a kid like this. The upside, as we saw with POB, is tremendous.Onward and Upward!
