Midstatehoops.com has Champaign Central's Verdell Jones III
rated as the #1 player in his class in Illinois (tied with Lewis Jackson.)
Many will recall that Verdell Jones III is the son of his own AAU coach and the son of Shaun Livingston's AAU coach and unofficial godfather Verdell Jones, Jr.
He is also the kid who won the Illinois state 8th grade title for his Champaign Middle school on a 3/4 court buzzer beater to knock off Morton Junior High.
Verdell III is a 6-3 PG who is getting some very high majors looking at him,. but something strange is going on.
Here's what is being said.....
When Verdell enrolled at the prestigious ABCD camp this past weekend, he listed his home state as California, and his home school as Palos Verdes High School in Palos Verdes, CA.
He apparently has even told some people that he is moving there, and that he is getting the strongest recruiting interest from UCLA.
Rumor has it that since the Clippers have excercised their 4th year option on Shaun Livingston and that Shaun will be staying in Southern California, that Verdell may staywith him and begin working out with NBA caliber trainers and assistants in an effort to improve his game. It also means perhaps UCLA is in the lead for his services if this takes place.
I guess time will tell.

If this happens he'll end up with USC or UCLA and will go pro after one year (that is if he's good enough).
