  • Thanks Peoria !

I enjoyed my return visit to Peoria this weekend. Thanks to all who make Peoria a very hospitable place. However (one exception), when I was at a local watering hole and a local found out I lived in Texas, she scowled and turned away... end of conversation. That was probably the funniest thing that happened to me all month! I guess my Longhorns hat didn't give her the appropriate clue... afterall, she did initiate the conversation.

I did NOT regret leaving the 5 degree snowy weather for the comforts of central Texas.

I enjoyed the game; however, as mentioned previously in other threads, I thought that the crowd was kinda quiet for being near capacity. I guess the 4-1 score after 4 minutes of play lulled everyone to sleep.

Definately! I would like to see a classic rivalry game. Last time I was at Carver vesus isu, BU won the game to win the MVC and the students ran onto the court.... I would love to see a similar scenario in the next year or two.

There's some bitterness in the area right now toward Texas. Cat just broke ground on a new engine plant in Sequin, TX while laying off people at the one in Mossville, IL.

I was not aware. I certainly understand as a lot of the Austin semiconductor (my career path) industry is laying off or relocating to upstate New York. I feel that pressure. good luck to those affected and I hope for prosperous times to come. I tried my best to augment the Peoria economy by traveling there and spending money.

Glad to hear that you had a good trip and the City of Peoria thanks you for your spending.

I think the lack of crowd noise stemmed from the opponent being 4-16 and a team that BU had recently beat on the road. There's really nothing to dislike about the Sycamores. As a fan, you just expect to beat them handily at home.
