Something is going really good for the Valley!

    Look at these numbers.

The Bradley-Wichita State game had the highest single session attendance in the history of the MVC Tournament.

Saturday???‚¬?„?s attendance of 17,772 shattered the old record of 15,703 set during the 2003 semifinals.

The overall, full tournament attendance is already at this point -- 49,770 ???‚¬??? which if the tourney ended yesterday, would be the fourth-best in the league history. The all-time mark is 62,007, set in 2003, and we still have today's session to go.

The attendance for today, which will likely exceed the 12,237 needed, will set the all time tournament record.

Good for the Valley, and don't discount the fact that Bradley's performace is a big part of it, as are Wichita's performance and SIU's.

The one disappointing part of the crowds, was that it was noted that there were very few purple attired people in the crowd, even for the SIU-UNI game.
    What's with those Panthers fans?
Their showing might have been affected by their fall to 6th seed, but you'd still have thought they would have show up in bigger numbers than were seen Saturday!

There were quite a few people wearing gold in the stands for the second game, so I couldn't tell if they were for WSU or UNI. It seemed like the Panthers got plenty of cheers when they made a good play. Regardless, the attendance has been good, which is a good reflection of the league and the passion Valley fans have for their teams. We are very fortunate to have such loyal fan bases for our member schools. Just like this year's RPI, I think the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament is in the top 6 or 7 leagues for getting support in the post-season. Six of our 10 schools are within a four hour drive of St. Louis, and no one can truly say they have a homecourt advantage. I think St. Louis is the perfect site for our tournament--it gives everyone a fair advantage, and the St. Louis hospitality corps does a great job of rolling out the red carpet for the teams and fans. With CBS giving us the title game for the next two years, I think the MVC has really arrived on the national basketball scene!

      I second all that.
The Valley fans are young and old, tall and short.
They are respectful people and I have yet to hear a single "boo" in any session so far, and not one obscenity, except for a couple things the Shocker students do that come close.
All in all, the crowds have been the kind that all but a half dozen conferences in the nation dream about.
I watched some of the clips from the other conferences and saw a lot more empty seats than we had in the semis yesterday!

I heard plenty of boos from the Shox crowd when we came out on sat. Were you there?
