  • Never say never, but right now it's Bradley...

Quote in the PJS from Wilkin's father. Scares the _____ out of me.

I could have asked for the NCAA to have made a decision on the Wilkins case. Instead they hung us out to dry by doing nothing and then in turn giving everyone a shot at contacting and signing Wilkins. This has nothing to do with anything other then the NCAA not wanting Wilkins enrolled at Bradley.

I wager that no decision regarding his academics will be made until he makes a decision to want to sign at "insert BCS school".

He will not see Bradley unless he drives through Peoria. And the only reason is the NCAA doesnt want his type of talent at a school in the Missouri Valley. His story is made for ESPN and if he is in the Valley his story wont be told by Vital or Digger.

And btw how can ESPN even try to call themselves an authority or College Basketball when they have hired a man in Phelps who opening cheers and supports Notre Dame. It is terrible that they put him on the TV to openly tell everyone how great Notre Dame is how their fans are the best and how incredible the school is. Sicking to have to see him lap up the school that fired him on national tv.

I have seen a lot of baseless speculation in my time, but this is pretty astounding. Take off the aluminum foil hat, the NCAA and ESPN do not have an evil plot to foil Bradley.

Even a signed NLI doesn't guarantee a recruit will end up playing at Bradley, so this isn't worth getting too worried about.

Anthony Grundy, Dwight Buycks, Daniel West, and others appeared to be locked up as certain BU recruits in the past, but never made it, and they all signed Letters of Intent.

If he wants to play at Bradley, he will. And right now it sounds like he really wants to play here. That's all we can ask for.

And though I don't totally agree with the conspiracy idea that has been suggested, if you don't think the NCAA is in bed with the BCS conferences, you are naive.

Agreed. There's no guarantee Prosser ever plays at Bradley either, yet we have ongoing threads about him.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Wait wait wait wait wait. I've been saying this repeatedly in the JW threads but IIRC only BB and I were the ones highly skeptical.

No one believed us. You have to realize that its PR BS and they're going to say whatever to keep their best option until another one comes along. Sounds like something is going on.

The only thing going on is that Wilkins wants and needs to play somewhere, and it won't be Bradley this year like he was hoping. And the NCAA appears set on denying his eligibility, so he has to go to juco, it's his only option. There is not hidden plot, and the Wilkins still want John at Bradley. Anything could happen, but I see him here in the fall of 2010.

Do you really in all your heart believe that if John were wanting to enroll at Michigan State, the NCAA would have drug its feet this long then decided that his grades were not acceptable even if his SAT was?

Coach he would already have served his suspension and would have been in uniform intime for the game yesterday on National TV versus OSU.

The NCAA has proven time and again that it treats its BCS memebers much differently then it does all its other members, this situation is absolutely no different.

Hey, I am on your side here! I do believe that he would have been cleared if he was trying to get into a BCS school.

I don't think the NCAA sits around and tries to make sure all the top talent goes to it's favored schools, but I do believe their committees (eligibility, rules violations, and other issues) definitely have a slant of favoritism toward the big boys.

There have been numerous, well documented cases of cheating by BCS schools that have never been punished as harshly as they seem to come down on minor schools like Alabama A&M, SEMO, etc.

Let's remember that we focus pretty much on BU with quite a bit of depth.

There certainly could be issues with BCS schools that we don't do all the research and have that much inside knowledge about that have gone through similar situations.

So, there really is a hidden plot here huh

I understand what you have said, it just drives me crazy to see the NCAA do this and essentially nothing is or can ever be done. SEMO gets the book thrown at them Indiana gets a slap on the wrist by the NCAA or in USC's case nothing ever happens.

Same rules for everyone just different punishments for breaking those same rules. And the NCAA has no qualms about publically giving out different punishments. They just essentially laugh at anyone not BCS.

Not to split hairs, but I don't believe Daniel West or Dwight Buycks signed LOI's. Eddren McCain committed in September of 2007, and Buycks was a committ around Christmas time, and was subsequently found to be a non-qualifier prior to signing his LOI.
