  • Too early to throw in the towel

Though I'm a bit pessimistic by nature, I still feel that an MVC Championship is within reach for this BU team. Here's why:

    1. Our young players are still developing and establishing chemistry....most notably, McCain. Norris and Brown have quietly been producing and each day they look more comfortable on the court.
    2. The lower eschelon Valley teams are capable on any given night of beating a better team, so you really can't "pencil in" wins for UNI.
    3. Down the stretch, coaching, discipline and conditioning can be the difference. I feel our coaching is as good as any in the Valley.

Bottom line is...no matter who wins it, it's going to be a dog fight in St. Lou!!

Also I believe our depth will pay huge dividends towards the end of conference play especially since most teams are counting on young players. We should see a pretty fresh team all the way through this year. We are consistantly going 9 deep with everyone getting decent minutes.

When AW and WE went down I didnt think we could win the conference. But we got off to a great start, and we are tied for second after 9 games. So we are definitely in the mix. We took care of isi at home, lost to a Creighton team that has good and bad games, had UNI on the ropes away for most of the game, split with siu, and taken care of business with all the other teams we have played. The road games are really encouraging because its tough to win on the road no matter where you play. Lets go get a title!

I would be very surprised if we end up at 12-6 or better in conference. History is against us, but hopefully we can do it. If we can go into ISU at 7-3 and pick up a win we will be in good shape. I don't if UNI can keep it up for the entire conference season, and ISU is beatable as we have seen. I think Creighton is a big wildcard, and a team that could be VERY dangerous in St. Louis if people overlook them.

Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.

I think we at least get one road win at Evansville and/or Drake. If we can take care of UNI at home (which is doable since we almost had them there), we will get to 12-6. But let's see if we can steal one or two at isu and/or Creighton. That would REALLY be nice!

I think the four game stretch after WSU on Wednesday will let us know if we can win the conference.
After WSU we have three of the next four on the road. The home game is UNI and the road games are ils, CU and DU.
Assuming we beat WSU at home then I think we need to win two of the next four to have a shot at winning conference. That would make us 9-5 at that point and have 3 home games and a road game at Evansville remaining. Don't know if that would be good enough but if we only win one of the four I can say that probably won't be good enough.
Lets win get on a little win streak here and see what happens.
