with over 11,000 in attendance the noise, energy level, and 6th man effect was just not there. More people sit on their hands when the fight song is kicked in than stand. Ive seen a lot of games the last 20 years at the civic center and last nights crowd effect was probably the lowest based on a near sell out. whether it the cold outside, mid winter blues or something else it was kinda disappointing. I feel the team does feed of the energy level from the fans but cannot understand the lethargy of last nights game from the home croud
I agree with you to a point...but I also agree with TAS and DaCoach...this was a game we should have won, we won easily, and without much excitement. The crowd got into it, especially at the end of the 1st half with those back-to-back threes when we were in danger of letting ISU back in.
Heck we didn't even need to complain about the refs. Nothing really to get hot about.
If we can't gripe about the team we are going to start griping about the crowd now?
He repeatedly and often made references to refereeing...
He gave some facts and figures to show how badly Bo Boroski has called the games he's done for Bradley (he's the guy who called the intentional foul last game on Dodie), and how really good Higgins is and the contrast between the games Higgins does and some of the bad refs.
Snell had more commentary about the refs in one game last night than I had heard in the past 10 years cumulatively.
And he was pretty much right on with everything, and he is no dummy....the guy has seen a few thousand college basketball games!
He also pointed out that Boroski (& Skiles) reffed this game in which Bradley got scre*ed by the calls....
--Salley and Theron fouled out, UIC shot 29 FT's, and of course BU was whistled for lots more fouls and bad calls than the "home team".
The video of the game was not online here, so it was listening to Snell CB and Stowell. I know Snell has been around the BU program forever and he generally does an outstanding job, but last night his game was way off. He constantly missed plays or more accurately anticipated a call and it ended up being something different. Several times CB had to correct him on what happened on the court. Snell always is very prepared and knowledgable but it just was difficult to have him tell me it was a turnover when it ended up being a foul. Anticipation versus waiting for a signal from the floor.
Also, Dave if you read this, it seems pretty obvious you might want to get your eyes checked. There was a moment when we had 33 points and you kept saying we have 37... I think he might have a little issue with seeing numbers.
I thought it was a win, INDYST played poorly but we just did enough to let them hang around, 12 point lead out of a timeout to 7, but overall it was a decent win.
We have some excellent freshman and Taylor Brown by the end of his 4 years might be the best of them... his size, athletic ability and confidence scream out going to get paid to play this game eventually.

I agree and have been very impressed with the effort TB gives in his limited minutes.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
I spoke to Sam at the post game party and he seemed elated to have his first dunk. He said he had all but accepted the fact that he would never have a chance to dunk the ball in a game during his career.
Also, a friend of mine wanted to show off his brand new digital SLR camera, so he took a couple hundred pictures of the game. One of the pictures is an excellent shot from behind of Sam going up for the dunk. He's going to convert the picture to a JPEG, then email it to me. I will be sure to post it so people can copy it...its a great picture!
I have been sick and missed my FIRST BU game in...well for a reeeeal long time. It was InSU and I said...well at least its not a game I care THAT much about save for the obvious wanted win.
I think this is a team that takes you back to pre season mode in terms of excitment.....
I also think this is a team that drags you down in terms of quality of play.
We did what we had to. Had a 19 point lead at one time....subbed and got out of killer mode.
Now gear up for a much tougher game Weds. Must win to keep pace.

I thought the crowd sounded pretty loud and energetic on tv. But sometimes you don't get the entire story from tv.
Attendance was great and I too thought the crowd was fairly quiet, I think because of how deliberate Ind.St. played it kind of took a lot of the crowd out of the game, Higgins has gotten so much better over the last couple of years as he isn"t so much whistle happy and lets the teams play more without calling every little touch a foul.

Hope you will be in your seat for the SHOCKERS dogs? Pretty quiet without you!

Wouldn't miss it for anything....like I said...coulda gone had we not had the X-mas party and had it been ANY team other then InSU it could have been a cold nite it/at the dog(s) house becuase I woulda been at the game.
See ya Weds on "the wall"...hey we should get that area named after us or something.
Jim Les made a concerted effort to stay off of the refs.
Dave Vroman and the band had a bad night.
Even the cheer coach was struggling to get people in the right place. If you haven't watched him, do it next game. I didn't know he actually told them what to do with hand signals and such. He was coaching one of his guys on the proper use of the shirt gun
No coupons from the blimp. Wah?
Music for the intro was way too soft. Turn it up or don't play it.
The little girl cheated on jump jack & jive, and the guy on the BWW shot must have been drunk.
Anthony Thompson did nothing to earn more minutes.
In other words, it was a clunky night for everyone.
Are you from Philly? You can't boo the band leader, the cheerleading coach, and some poor little girl and even take cheep shot at one of the reserves. You should be ashamed...

Most points he makes are valid.
I was excited to see AT in. And then disappointed. Just didn't see the energy from him I was expecting.
Vroman and band had some great moments (I liked having the full band back!) but even Vroman shook his head at the band a few times throughout.
To be from Philly you would have to be able to boo Santa Clause. He could be from Boston where they booed Ted Williams, the best hitter ever and an American hero.
