As I have stated before win or lose or for us or against us bad reffing should never be acceptable in this league but it is year after year. I've been complaining about the quality or lack of, in the MVC for a long time. I find it even more bizarre that it is still happening and maybe the only remedy at this point is to move to a conference where they take all aspects of the game and try to be the best. Right now I cannot say that the MVC overall creates a great product and I believe that BU and other schools in this conference deserve more. Who sets the budget for refs? Changes need to be made and I hope we can but if not because of things outside of our control then we should consider leaving.

Say what you want, but those things have and will continue to cost us. And in this case it cost us first place. No one should be surprised.

Dominate for 35, and lose it in 5.
I'm not sure, but I'd guessed we were out of TOs. Bench played big minutes tonight, and EM was stuck on bench because every time he came in the game he got whistled for something. I'm just not knowledgeable enough about bball to speak about plays

Dubl R - What I found most interesting about the foul call on McCain that you referred to was that the very next series, there was way more contact by the guy guarding Maniscalco yet nothing was called.

And for you Redbird21- you said that it only cost a few seconds at most. When there are only 22 seconds left in the game, every second is valuable.

And they may have been out of TO's. I was in a bar with no sound. But if you're leading by 10+ most of the game even relatively deep into the 2nd half, how do you NOT have TO's in the last 5?

Continuing on to plays. . .you need to know nothing about plays when you shoot an ill-advised 3 inside of ten seconds and don't get the rebound and how fast a lead can dissipate as a result.

i dont disagree... not going to explain and/or post any further on the subject... i am sure i would understand it better if i could see it... based on what i am reading... it only cost a few seconds... no more points then a regular foul would have been since he missed 2 ft's... and even on the last miss, DD was fouled and made 2 FT's... but no point in posting on the subject anymore unless i can see it... have a nice night gents

Right, but I also know that may have as much to do with the player making a bad decision rather than any play the coach called.

Isn't part of coaching getting the players to stop doing that repeatedly? It's not exactly a unique problem the team encountered tonight.

Sure, but that's kinduva circular argument. Every time a player does something wrong you should've coached him out of it. For the 30 minutes they played well, I guess coaching had nothing to do with it?

Redbird, I don't care if this happened to BU or any other team, this intentional foul call was horrendous, one of the worst calls i've seen, especially with 20 seconds left and a tight ball game. The inbound count barely hit 1 second and the players barely had time to move when the call was made. The inbound player got the ball, then not even 2 seconds later the whistle blows. No players on the breakaway, all were still stacked up near Bradley's free throw line.

JP911, I certainly am NOT going to change your opinion but I have read all of these posts and I think its time to give my point of view. Does the Valley have problems getting quality officials. I would say yes for the most part. There are good ones in the valley but most people wouldn't know one if they saw one.Thats not an attack its reality. The intentional foul did come at a bad time in the game but I find it very amusing for people to say it cost BU the game when we go 8 MINUTES WITHOUT A SCORE. Give me a break. How many know what the rule is regarding an intentional foul. In order for it not to deemed intentional a player must be making a legal attempt to get the ball. Where was the ball. IN THE HANDS OF THE THROWER IN. I cringed at the call but by rule it IS CORRECT. I need to go back and look at the tape and if it shows us just grabbing someone to prevent them from the throw in and to put them at the line . IT was a call we don't see often but is unfortunatly the right call. Where there strange calls in the game. Yes as in every game. In fact I thought we got the benefit more tonight then what we usually do on the road. WE need to quit complaining about a call and focus on what the heck we were doing for 8 minutes at both ends of the floor.

The players play and the coaches coach. I get so sick of hearing people blame these losses on Coach Les. I haven't been saying much on here at all, kinda just taking everything in and opening my mind to evreyone's opinion and analysis of the games and so forth. I have to call these people out though. This team is very young. As with all young people, whether it be new to the world such as a toddler, new to college basketball, such as a freshman, or new to professional sports i.e a rookie, people need experience to excel. If your toddler drops a glass of milk, are you a bad parent? NO! He/She needs time to learn how to use what they have been taught by the parent. If a freshman comes in and has 10 to's in a game is the coach a bad coach, NO! he has to take these examples and coach them through it. You can blame the refs, the coaches, but it ultimately falls into the laps of the players, why isn't the Senior Leader even making 1 bucket. Why did we not score for 8 min. If you are gonna blame Coach Les, let him put on a uniform I gurantee that we would have gotten a bucket in 8 min. Like I said, these players are raw and have untapped potential, I can't wait to see the naysayers this postseason when WE ARE PLAYING ONCE AGAIN! It will be even more rewarding seeing these same players for years to come when Coach Les is being called a genius and the Will Coach LES leave threads come up again. I'm not sure any of this makes sense and I am not going to proofread it. GO BU!

According to KW...UNI made both ft's on the intentional call but missed both on the ensuing foul 2 secs. later. Therefore it cost us a couple of seconds in time but it certainly does some psychological damage for the last 22 seconds.
It was just a crap call....no doubt about it.
