BUT NOT the thumbing his nose at the National Anthem and to all the 17,18,19&20 year olds and all the rest that have severed/died for this country, Hell No. We put guns in their hands not basketballs and we held them accountable for their actions. Daddy may of taught his son about BB but he forgot to take his son to a national cemetery to show him where the real hero's are and the ones that gave him a chance to play BB for a living!
What a bunch of self serving crap this is.
Whats your next rant...If you're not with us you're a against us?
Ha lefty, like I said I have no problem for personally forgetting this guy was at BU or for that matter ever knowing of him. I know the BU thing will never happen. As for the 19-20 year old slack thing, I am a forgiving person and a second chance person. But in this case no thanks! I might tend to forget the missing the bus thing, the leaving of the team/school thing to go home to daddy, all the other negative things he brought to the team (12-43 while he was here) and maybe the back door negotiation's thing with New Mexico. Oh sheesh. He didn't "thumb his nose" at the National Anthem. It wasn't a political statement. It had to do with his religious beliefs. People need to get over this.

What religion says you can't stand on the court with your teammates while your country's anthem is being played?

Freedom of religion was one of freedoms that those people served and died for.

It was about putting another symbol, etc. before God. Standing at attention to a flag does just that.
As Murph said freedom of religion and freedom to stand and look at the flag or not are one of the beauties of living in this country.
I'm amazed so many people get bothered by this. He never made anyone else not look at the flag, etc. and he never went public with anything. He did what he did in private.
there are a lot of people who have little respect for the flag and what it stands for,
but oddly even when it's reported, it falls off the page quite quickly.
If he wants to interpret his religious beliefs that way, he should be free to do so, unless it infringes on others' rights.
This matter was the subject of a Supreme Court decision in 1943 in which the US Supreme Court declared that members of the JW's did not have to salute the flag as was mandated by a statutes in the state of West Virginia--

However, I know a number of Jehovah's Witnesses who do not suscribe to this practice.

You are a trip Murph! Didn't someone in a another thread just make cutting remark about coach MO's pre game prayer before each game? I wonder who that was!

OOB, it's the same point.
Coach Molinari never required players to participate in pre-game prayers. It was never mandatory. If guys wanted too, they could. If they didn't, they didn't.
Lets just drop the Religion and National Anthem issues.
I say we put his picture on the CC wall next to all the great players who played for BU. He did so much for BU and showed so much appreciation.

I don't think anyone was wanting to put his jersey on the wall...
