As Dave Reynolds said, the effort was very good, and maybe cpacmel doesn't differentiate between that and results either. Most coaches and people who follow basketball do. No team is going to win every game, especially in a tough road environment.
Are you surprised that with the best shooter out that this team struggles from the perimeter? Didn't you predict this team would be middle of the pack, yet they are contending for the lead in the MVC?

I just accept that there will always be people who enjoy finding fault and ripping their team rather than supporting them. Only I expect it from ISU fans.

Without reading through every single post here, I'll give some quick thoughts on the game.

Obviously, free throw shooting was terrible and you won't win many road games by shooting them at a rate of 47%.

Someone other than TW needs to "want" to shoot the ball and look to score. Dodie does as well, but he's not a starter.

I really like SM better when he's not at the point. This seemed to be the biggest problem I saw while watching the game. It seemed like he tried driving to the basket way too much and getting stuck in the lane. Granted, defense has something to do with it, but he needs to be looking to shoot 3's more than driving to the basket. One 3PT attempt in 29 minutes is not a good sign in my opinion.

Why did McCain only play 6 1/2 minutes in the first half?

For the game, we outscored SIU 18-8 when Maniscalco was on the bench.

I think we're all kind of saying the same thing - Effort was good, could have been better. Road games are tough, so you've got to give the maximum effort the whole time. The head coach said as much.

Also, last night's game doesn't change what I think about this team and what they're capable of. I think they're still playing to their strengths, and IMO overachieving considering the injuries they've sustained. I still expect this team to finish strong in league play and be a factor in St. Louis.
        Onward and Upward!

An honest, heart-felt critique of your team's performance doesn't mean you're not "supporting" your team. We're all doing our beloved BU a disservice when we choose to only emphasize the positive. We, as intelligent, passionate fans, should hold our team accountable. Mindless, profane, emotional "ripping" of the team is another story. That's not constructive at all.

            One more thing.......

Taylor Brown only playing 3 minutes explains a lot about this loss too, but not when it comes to the players!

Not true. I checked your past posts, you posted only twice after Bradley beat SIU in the MVC opener 12/29: The first one was a conciliatory post about being wrong http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread...829#post106829 The second was a justification of why you complain about the team http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread...987#post106987 After Bradley beat Wichita State on the road 12/31, you didn't post at all about the game. Then after Bradley beat Missouri State on the road 1/3, you posted only once in the next 4 days, and not about the game, but only to explain why you disappear for days after a win:http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread...558#post108558 Then after the big win against Illinois State on 1/6, you posted only twice, once the next day to say you were glad an ISU fan got "jobbed" by the ticket office: http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread...835#post109835 and once to chime in on a long discussion about a disputed call in the game: http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread...838#post109838 and after the last win at Indiana State on 1/13, you posted this one very short post in which, despite the win, you take a shot at the free throwing: http://bradleyfans.com/vb/showthread...311#post111311

I think it was because of fouls. Eddren got his second foul at 10:31 of the first half, came out, and did not return until the second half. He eventually fouled out.
He played 26 minutes, more than anyone else but Wilson, Dunson, and Maniscalco.

Wow Bill, I wish I had as much free time as you. You must be REALLY bored to find all my posts. I think you might want to add after the ISU win, I comment how a win is a win. And since you're the analyst, I back up some of my previous statements where I post positive and negative aspects about what I saw. I am an objective fan who tends to see and post both sides. Being positive just for positive's sake is pointless and annoying

This is all based on a person's perspective. If you always look for the negative side of things, you would think my "opinion is always with a positive spin".
Many fans agree with me on most things, judging by the PMs I get.

I would ask this question of those who think I am overly positive- After Andrew Warren went down, and especially after Will Egolf was injured, removing 2 starters, how many people thought Bradley would still be good enough to have 3 wins out of their first 4 road games, be 5-2 and contending for the league lead, and have an RPI of 60? Not a lot.

Well, I did. And I guess that makes me the realist with the accurate insight, and the others pessimists.

I've never seen this lack of hustle from SamM before.

That play was right in front of me, and Sam had to turn around and reverse his momentum to go after the ball. Bocot was already moving in the direction of the ball and dived at it. Sam didn't have the luxury to be able to dive to get to get to the ball, or he wouldn't have been able to do anything but knock it out of bounds or into the backcourt which would have been a turnover anyway.
Sam really plays hard, sometimes to a fault. I wish we had 10 more of him.

I don't. One is enough. He's a valuable player to our team, but a team full of 6'0" white guys who are a step slow, can't jump, and are average shooters won't win anything.

I wasn't there and didn't see a replay, but you're probably right about their respective momentums causing that play to occur the way it did. I agree that Sam is definitely a hard worker - which is likely the reason that play stood out in my mind.
