  • 62 BU @ 68 siu...post game

Braves were not ready to play in the 1st half....too many(20) to's and missed(3-13) 3's-(9-19)FTs to win on the road...17 pts will not win you many games! Need to get it together...UNI is better than siu!

I feel better about the shooting on my 10 year olds biddy basketball game earlier today. I guess that's a bright spot for me.

          That sorta kinda really stunk.

Oh well. We're going to lose road games. Just don't make it a habit.

The effort was very good tonight. The shots just weren't falling and too many missed free throws. It's very tough to play there, and the comeback had the SIU fans really fretting. The game was very physical, and that appeared to be SIU's game plan, and BU did not back down.
I think Bradley fans should be proud of this team, even though the results weren't what we wanted.

It is very obvious the number of free throws we missed along with the horrible % from the 3, but the defense was just terrible. How many 2,3rd attempts did SIU get? How many times did they get into the lane and have uncontested lay ups.

Extremely disappointing. And I am not convinced the effort for 40 minutes was there either.. other then Wilson who else showed up and wanted to play HARD?

The final score looks a whole lot better then the full 40 minutes. Anyone watching the full 40 minutes would have to wonder how exactly was Bradley 5-1 because they sure looked unorganized.

Nothing from the bigs (DC or SS) and really horrible guard play (SM and EM) did not give us anything tonight. Good game by Theron but overall not very impressive.

                I wish someone could shoot.

How about not turn the ball over a million times? Actually I would have settled for just not passing the ball out of bounds by a good 6 feet to the nearest player. Making free throws?

DC, you know we're playing basketball right? He looked just as lost as he did last year.

There must be something in the water down there in Carbondale. We could not see straight in the first half I propose that we take serveral barrels of our own water with us next season

Are we talking about the game to night That first 30 Min's. of this game was, well I'll be nice here. DC you better watch the game again and I will give you the benefit of the drought, that you have not seen the stats yet. And as for the game being very physical, did we think it would be anything else playing SIU and on their home court to boot
How proud I am of this team is not the How disappointed I am with their play tonight is
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

OOB, you can look at the game and see just the negatives, but I saw very good effort.
And I saw the stats. In fact I posted them.
Bradley's shooting percentage was .439- not bad, and SIU's was .447- basically equal.
Rebounds- Bradley 44, SIU 30- a huge advantage for Bradley.

And here are the ones you and others may want to focus on- turnovers- 20 to 13, and FTs- 9-19. We already know this isn't a good three point shooting team.

Bradley lost- I can assure you the players don't feel good about it. there was no lack of effort that I saw.

I agree with the effort. I upgraded to the Direct TV Sportspack and watched the game. They did play with a great effort. However, I am still concerned about our free throw shooting, especially since we missed the front end of at least five one on one's. This game would have been a lot closer had we made even half of those.

Still though, I would never say that they definately would have won the game had they made those free throws. Too many people believe the outcome would have been different had they made them, but the thing is the tone of the game would have changed drastically. It would have made the game a lot closer earlier, but then again SIU would not be at the free throw line as much since we wouldn't have had to resort to as much fouling. Then all they would have needed to do is to make a few baskets, and they probably still would have beaten us with their defense. But our free throwing still needs improvement, and there's no way we beat UNI without improving on that aspect of our game.

The positives that can be taken from this game are of course Wilson, along with decent games by Norris and McCain. But I think Wilson tried to do too much at times, and even was hesitant to try three's earlier in the game. But I don't know what else I can say about him. He left it all out on the floor tonight and he will be sorely missed next year, though reinforcements will be coming in next year.

All in all, I stated that one win on this road trip would be the absolute minimum, and we have accomplished that. I don't view this loss tonight as a bad loss as it is nearly impossible to win in Carbondale, and SIU is a better team than their record indicates. And they will only get better the rest of the way as long as they don't lose anymore players to injury. So, a victory at UNI is still icing on the cake as far as I"m concerned. A win there will keep us alive for the Valley title, but I don't see us losing anymore home games this year outside of possibly UNI. So, I think the CBI is pretty much a shoo in, but a split against UNI and another road win or two gets us into the NIT and puts us in position for a run in the Valley tournament. So despite the sour view some people may take from this game, I think we still are in good shape for a good if not great season in the Valley this year.
