  • Free Throws

    Seriously, does this team practice any? 3 of 7 FT's in first 16 minutes tonight. Could be a 4 point deficit instead of 8. Totally different mindset when down by 4 instead of 8. Last year it was rebounding problems, this year its FT's, just always something. Frustrating.

    Down by 14 now, 3 for 9 on FT's and 0 for 5 on 3's in first half. Also getting outrebounded by about 5 I believe. Minute left before halftime. Horrendous.

      Better FT shooting, possibly a win. Effort wasn't there, concentration wasn't there. Gotta bounce back Wednesday.

        My question is this...

        Why do we let certain players play who only decide to show up when they feel like it?

        BTW....Theron is not one of them!

          Free Throws

          I really don't think practicing free throws at this point will help much. Good shooting teams make their free throws.
          BUT, I really think we can use our poor free throw shooting to our advantage. Most opponents assume the free throw will be made. If we can crash the boards when shooting the free throw, maybe we can get some easy put-backs. We should be able to beat them to the boards, knowing that 60% of the time we are going to miss.

            Who would you play?

            And who would be your subs, since you need 8 or 9 players?

            Note that Theron Wilson and Dodie Dunson were the 2 best players on the floor for Bradley tonight, and they missed 6 of the 10 missed FTs.
            Norris, who missed 3, was instrumental in the BU comeback with his energy and 3 steals in the 2nd half.

              We won't be winning any Valley Championships or any Valley Tournaments until we can shoot our free throws (and three's) better. Simple as that. We need to improve. And the coaches know that. I just fear that the good shooting we had early in the Valley may have been an aberration and that this team may be the not-so-good shooting team we saw in the non-conference.

                    I cannot understand how we can shoot freethrows so good and then so bad;
                    1st of the season I thought Dunson,Maniscalco,Roberts,Norris ,Brown ,Wilson,Collins,and Singh were all
                    good freethrow shooters and McCain was the one that really struggled.
                    This has to be more of a mental problem as you just don"t see teams either being so good one night and then being so bad other nights.
