  • Butler @ UIC

Watching this match-up right now, following the blowout in Des Moines.

Who am I supposed to root for? Obviously we played both these guys, what team winning will help Bradley's RPI?

IF Butler wins that further increases our SOS aspect.

IF UIC wins that means we beat a team that beat a top 10.

It would be perfect if UIC won this game then Butler won most / all of its remaining games.

Also, Butler is not a top 10. ESPN2's coverage is horrible, even in HD, and it looks like a 10 next to Butler, but they are 18.

My bad, I see they are ranked at 18.

BlueDevil I think your thought process makes sense. I will root for UIC.

Well, Butler is in the process of coming all the way back. They were down 11 earlier, briefly took a 1 point lead, but now are down just 45-43 at the under 8 timeout.

This team is terrifying! If this team with mainly underclassmen is this good this year, imagine how strong they will be the next few years!

I think Butler could potentially overtake Memphis and Gonzaga and become the best non-BCS team for the foreseeable future. They may not have the "athletes" those two teams have, but they have skill players and a system that is so good it can give most teams a run for their money.

I didn't know whether to root for UIC or Butler either but then I thought hey we lost to Butler but beat UIC so does it actually look good when a team we beat beats a team we lost to? I mean I would look at it and say if we can beat UIC and they can beat Butler then why couldn't we beat Butler?

                Butler wins 59-52.

                Of Butler's 54 FG attempts, a whopping 39 of them were 3s!!

Box score for the Butler Bulldogs vs. UIC Flames NCAAM game from January 17, 2009 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.
