  • Saluki adjustment to the MVC shuffle

Just ran across this on the salukis fan board, apparently someone down in Carbontucky has waaaaaay too much time on his hands.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

That had to be the best video I've ever seen. Hope we beat them by 30 instead of 16 this time.

Carbontucky is an insult to Kentucky. Kentucky is awesome. Carbondale is not.

Wow. Well, if our video was their bulletin board material, we just got ours. I think the whole thing is hilarious...more shuffling!

Personally, I don't like the original video and it desreved ridicule. Play basketball and don't brag about it. In other words, shut up and play.

There is virtually nothing that could be taken as bragging or trash talking, and I can't see anywhere that any player
guarantees we'll win the MVC, only that we're out to win or that were are aiming to win the MVC..

"We're out to win the MVC" is simply what every team in the Valley is trying to do..
I think the words are carefully chosen as to NOT constitute excessive braggodocio or arrogance, but a certain amount
of pre-BU talk is obviously necesary for the effect desired.
Anyone who takes offense to this is just a twit and needs to get a life.

In reality, fans and beat writers in most MVC cities are having fun with this and understand what it is, what it was for, and why it was made.

Only a few who already had an agenda seem to be in a tizzy.
When Dodie says "I told "State" to take a hike"
it clearly it veiled a bit by using the word "State" so you don't know if he is really talking about Illinois State or Iowa State.
The Iowa State people actually think he is talking about them...check the above link...

I think you are looking at the criticism to literally. I don't think anyone is offended by it (maybe a small % of people are)... I think most criticism is coming from people that just think it is a dumb idea and a poor attempt at humor.

The dolts that are criticizing this are just jealous. It was not the idea of the players, it was created and produced by people for the preseason booster gathering. I recall a similar video last year with Will Egolf singing "North to Alaska" with some hilarious routines by the backup singers. And to top it all off, it was done in good nature, didn't attack or criticize anyone else, and was intended to be sold on DVD to raise money for the Danny Dahlquist charity fund. How could anyone be against that. The loudmouths attacking it are simply shallow minded people who dislike anything Bradley anyway. It must really gall them to see Bradley in first place.

I don't think people really pay attention to the lyrics. I feel most of the criticism comes from a predetermined notion. It is a parody of the Super Bowl Shuffle, a video made after a team won the Super Bowl. I think people automatically staple the reasoning that we are trying to compare ourselves to a winning franchise as the main idea behind the video; instead of the fact that it was a parody of a parody and it was meant as an object of humor to support a fund-raiser.

The fact of the matter is, it was not really intended for eyes outside of those of Bradley University (despite the fact that todays technology made its spread inevitable). It was clearly suppose to be one of those take it to the grave keepsakes to look back on and laugh about.

I believe the Super Bowl Shuffle was actually recorded in December of 1985 following the Bears loss to Miami.

Seriously a video for charity getting this much ridicule is ridiculous. Take it for what it is, a video made to raise money for a good cause.
