Unles isu wins the tour. they will not make it as an at large; in fact I think we are a 1 bid league again this season.

After last year...I will never put any stock in Lunardi's bracketology. Not sure if any of you guys followed it closely or not, but as you would expect, myself and many redbird fans did.

The reason Lunardi can brag about his great record of guessing teams, is basically because he has sources inside the NCAA and/or NIT selection committee.

Last year, he had ISU in the field of 65 the ENTIRE year (well maybe not at the very beginning of the year... but you know what i mean- every week toward the end of the season). Then, magically, he took them out of the field overnight (Saturday night/Sunday morning) of selection Sunday. There were numerous articles and sources that said he talks to (I believe) people in the NIT selection committee, because the NCAA selection committee with tell the NIT committee who they are not taking, since the NIT needs to be set up ASAP after they know who is in the NCAA tourney...

Needless to say it was rather frustrating. All of his work is a guess (just like other bracketologest), until his very last guess... which changes come from insides sources...

Sorry for the rant, but some people might care!

I think Ill.ST. would have been in had they not lost so badly to Drake in the championship game. They had to be one of the last teams to be scratched from the tour.

While I don't disagree with what you are saying... the NCAA does not announced who were the "last 4 out"... but Lunardi took an "educated" guess and didn't even have ISU in that group... it is all a sham and a joke. It is fun to follow for a while, but when you clearly have some inside information the night before/morning of the selection show- it takes all the fun out of it.

Well, his job is to be as accurate as possible, so I don't mind inside information from him.

The time to listen to Lunardi is now. His work becomes less valuable as we get closer to the final days.

I don't necessarily disagree with that... it is just kinda pointless to believe or care to believe what he says...if you take his predictions before the final week of the season, they are his actual thoughts and guesses... not facts that he gets and plays it off as his guess...

I dont necessarily disagree with this either...but is any of his work valuable in the long run anyway??? It is just fun to follow- until you realize at the end of the year, it's kind of a waste...

In any regards... I guess it is somewhat entertaining

It's valuable for knowing what to root for as a fan. Beyond your own team, of course.

Well, at the very least, this tells me that BU should enjoy another postseason tournament this year. With all of the injuries we've had this year, keeping things in perspective, the NIT would be a big success IMO.

I wouldn't know about big success, but it most definitely won't be a failure. And one of the good things of the Les regime is we aren't having failing seasons anymore.

Also, even though our at-large hopes are minimal right now, it's just good to start seeing our names in brackets right now. The last 2 years we've been on the fringe of the bubble, always on the outside trying to play our way in. Even in '06, it took a major rally to get it. Even if it's via the autobid projection right now, it's nice to see our name from the inside and not the outside of the bubble.

If they played in the first round (which I doubt would ever happen) ... who would your root for?

                            isu or U of I?
                            Go Braves!

I would root for isu, absolutely.

That being said, I'm something of an Illini-hater. On top of it, I'll almost always root against a BCS team, unless it's one of the few I really like.
