  • Difference Maker?

    Is it just me or is this team a stud player from being a really good and consistent team? I know I like the kool-aid especially when it comes to BU basketball and I realize that.

    It leads me to wonder if/when Wilkins gets approved what that will do for this team? Assuming he can get into game shape etc do you think he will have a big or small impact?

    I know this has been discussed in some way shape or form before but it sounds like Wilkins brings some needed attributes to this team. Of course so would have AW. I still think we need a strong consistent big and that Wilkins what fill that hole from what I have heard about his game.

    Next year is so bright (again my eternal excitement for BU showing through) that I am going to have to get some very dark shades...

    I think he could be a difference maker, but it better happen fast.

      We definitely need a bigger outside shooter as our small guards have a hard time getting shots;
      Even though Creighton had a good shooting % I thought our defense was fine as they were only going to score around 62 points until we had to foul so much at the end of the game.
      Our offense was on a pace to score around 56 to 58 until Creighton gave us some easy layups at the end. That is 2 games in a row at home where we were having trouble scoring points, this appears to be a pattern that the defense gets blamed but when you get 54 shots off and only make 20 and then you only make 18 out of 26 freethrows I think you need to start realizing that you have to be able to score more points if you expect to win most games.
      Darian Norris played the last 3-4 minutes of the 1st half when we made our run and had 2 steals, why wasn"t he in until the last min. in the 2nd half?
      D.Collins played 15 min. with o points and 2 rebounds, those numbers are hard to understand , AT would do no worse.

        I think we all just need to stop being like Cub fans, heaven forbid, and stop acting like we are in the Final Four after going 4-0 to start the conference.
        What part of illegal don't you understand?

          I think this thread is right on target with what you are saying - I think BU is a very good young team, if they had one more quality option on the floor at any given time, I think it would make a huge difference. JW is an unknown or x-factor where I'm concerned, but AW or WE could have been that diff maker as well. This team will still keep my interest all season, cause they are going to grow together into something very special (IMHO).

              That is... I can't say it.

                I think a healthy AW would have made this team a lot better. We are lacking a go to scorer and a consistent outside threat, and I think AW would have filled both those roles. I don't know whether JW can be a difference maker. It's hard to believe he's going to be able to get in shape and in sync with the team in time to be much of a factor anytime soon, but maybe he'll be ready in time for the MVC tourney.

                  I was thinking at least AT could have sprint the floor and make Lawson really hustle down court at least. Lawson had his way inside against SS and DC and neither were an offensive threat at all. This is a game where if we were capable of really running and gunning we'd have a chance of dominating. We let them set up way to easy and let them score way to easy inside. Our bigs at one point has to say they own that lane but never did we see it. Are they just to nice? I'm sure MS would have slammed someone.

                    Center position stats from last night;
                    Creighton Lawson jr. and Walker; combined 16points 14 rebounds
                    Collins and Singh; 3 points 4 rebounds
                    There is the difference in last nights game.
                    The other troubling thing about this is that Lawson is only a sophomore.

                      And if SS is correctly listed at 6'9"... then Lawson is listed incorrectly.

                        The problem that Singh had was that Lawson could simply jump over him because Singh has some vertical deficiencies. Collins problem was that he would foul him every time Lawson would go up for a shot. No excuses on the boards though, that's just plain lack of aggression.
