  • Question about Redbird Arena.....

    Hey folks,

Im hoping one of you can help me out. I have never been to redbird arena. I am thinking about gettint a couple tix for my dad and I for the BU game. Only thing is, he doesnt do so well with stairs.

So, is redbird arena like the peoria civic center, where you walk in off the street and you are actually at the level of the walkway between the upper and lower bowls? If that is the case, seats in the bottom part of the upper bowl might not be too tough.

Or, is it the sort of arena where you walk in off the street and you are at the same level as the court? If that is the case, upper bowl seats probably wouldnt work.

I looked at the seating chart on the redbirds athletic site but you cant really tell anything from a 2D chart.

    Thanks
    Ryan

The entrance level is between the lower and upper bowl.

Street level is the walkway that seperates (like Carver) the upper and lower bowl so you wont have to go up too many steps... However, the stairs in the upper bowl are (or seem to be) a little steeper then normal stairs.

        Ryan,

They have seats right on the concourse for disabled and older fans. That way your Dad doesn't have to do any stairs. Sitting in those concourse seats also allows easy access to rest rooms and concessions.

Call the ticket office and mention that about your father and ask about those concourse seats.

And Tornado is right, not many tickets left for this one.

Redbird Arena is nice, but, has anyone else noticed how there are no hand rails to help one negotiate the stairs. The absense of the handrails is especially disconcerting in the upper bowl if one momentarily looses balance and needs a brace.

One other thing, the parking is bad, be sure to let your Dad off and then go park. Also if you come to early, there is a time when they open the doors and let you in. Last year I got there early and there was a crowd and had to wait out side for them to open the doors. I think it is 1 hour before the game. You may want to call, so that both of you will not be outside in the cold waiting. I thought it was BS on their part, because what would it hurt to have let all those people in and out of the weather. It was cold that night and there is no place to sit. Good Luck
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

              Thanks for your help

OK, thanks for your help. I got tix in row 14 of the upper bowl, not great, but I assume that means they are 14 rows up from the mid level where you walk in, and theyre on a aisle, so that shouldnt be too bad.

Now, my only problem is, Since ISU is also red and white, how do you differentiate yourself as a bradley fan at redbird arena?

Shouldn't be too difficult, conduct yourself with class and that'll set you apart. BU fans will be the ones not yelling obscenties and profane chants.

Only time in my life where my liquid in my eyes actually froze was walking/running from the baseball field area at ISU to the arena for a Bradley game. It is a decent arena and has good sightlines but there is nothing close when it comes to parking.

It used to be called the Bradley Bash and then it was the Taste of McLean County.

As far as parking goes, there are a couple of different options:

                      1. Park and take the shuttle

I haven't heard many problems or issues with this. Longest I have heard people have had to wait for the shuttle before the game is just a couple of minutes. (so stay in your car until you see the bus)

                      2. There is a good deal of street parking near Redbird Arena. Even when we sold out for the Creighton game I was able to find a couple of spots within 2 blocks of the Arena.

                      3. Use the circle drive to drop folks off if need be.
Thanks for all the info. capcmel and T. In the years going to games I knew nothing of a shuttle. Peoria Kid there is a door just about 1/2 block (on your right) after you turn in (off the street). I use it. I think T gave the answer in if you can let your dad off about 15 min. from the time the doors open he may avoid any long wait in entering. Last year I was there 15 min. before the doors open and froze my *** off. And thats after I let way wife off at that door and then made the 2 block walk to that door. I have a why don't someone from Bradley ask IS to open the doors 90 mins. before for this sold out game ( their biggest of the year). This would make things a lot better and would up sales for the concessions! You be the message carrier T
Take care of your dad peoriakid and good luck on the stairs.

OOB, are you sure the 1/2 hour wait in the warm car is to avoid the wait
in line or is it to have a couple extra refreshments to get ready for the game?

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
