find out how the university does their Forewarn text messaging system. i get texts occasionally about drills being run and school being canceled. it would be nice to get a text saying JW a brave.

I understand this is best case scenario talk but seeing as it's probably not gonna happen for this year, there is still the possibility of JW signing a LOI for the spring period, right?

What is the possibility that he is still receiving calls from the big boys during this whole NCAA eligibility process?

Braves briefs: There??™s been another snag in the John Wilkins case. This development, because of the slow governmental bureaucracy involved, is another setback in Wilkins??™ quest to get enrolled at BU for the spring semester that begins Jan. 21.
I was afraid of this since it was taking so long to hear any more news. I think someone indicated before that he could enroll up till a week after the spring semester starts. If that is the case then he still has 2 weeks and it is still conceivable that he gets cleared in time to enroll, though very unlikely the way this has progressed. He wouldn't be eligible for many games, either.

This news has been floating around since last Thursday. It was rumored that the NCAA wanted more documents related to 2 minor issues involving classes JW took in Belgium. One source thought that the fact that they cleared everything else is good news, they wouldn't be pursuing the 2 minor issues if they found any fault with all the rest of his academic records. The 2 issues still being investigated are rumored to be issues that should not have a big problem getting cleared once the NCAA gets what it is seeking.

That seems to be where the problem lies! I'm personally not expecting JW to become a Bradley Brave this season, but it sure would be nice jut to get those five games out of the way and have him available for the end of this season.

Has anyone heard from John lately if he still plans on playing this season because of all the delays he has encountered, if his transcripts are ok I don"t think he should have to sit out 5 games from the day they are approved as he will have missed 5 games already because of all the beauracy involved on this matter.

Well the NCAA doesn't see it that way so he most definitely will still have to sit out 5 games.

Imagine....he could be eligible for us right now. And could've been against Creighton and ISUblue. How great would that have been?

                      I hate the NCAA lol

I know they don"t but I find it hard and unfair to penalize a person that has the grades to get in but is in limbo because of all the red tape. Think of all the ones that got in because of the cheating (Arthur at KU.) and you wonder where is the fairness.

Me thinks the only real reason this is being held up at all is because the school that Wilkins is wanting to enroll is in not from a BCS conference.

The absolute blatent distain the NCAA shows to any school not from a BCS conference is criminal. If he were wanting to enroll at Michigan State he would have been sitting on their bench serving his suspension a week ago.

You are mostly right Houston... save for one point - if he were trying to get into Michigan St., he would not have been suspended in the first place and he'd have been eligible immediately.

Houston is right as if he was trying to get into a bcs school they would have given him the ok months ago, that is what pi--es me off the most about this because it is not fair to John or BU.

                                1. I'm willing to believe that the NCAA may well give priority to requests from big name schools. If that's true, it's crap, but it wouldn't surprise me. However, to say that they're deliberately trying to sabotage JW/Bradley so that he goes to a BSC school is way too conspiracy-theorish for me. Based on what we know, it is his high school, not the NCAA which has mostly held up this process.

                                2. I'm tired of hearing it said that the ONLY reason JW is committed to Bradley is so he could play this year. Can we please stop selling BU short? If he was really recruited by 40-50 programs, I'm sure many of them were willing to let him play this year. This statement has also been previously refuted by the one poster who seems to have inside info on JW (though I don't know what his/her connection is). I'd love to get JW enrolled so that we know he can't be recruited elsewhere, but I've got no reason to believe he won't come here next year even if things don't work out this year.
