  • Kudos to the students and student-fill-ins

Great job by the students who made it to the game despite being out of school on semester break. There were a buch of lively students, who displayed impeccable sportsmanship.

Also, there were a large number of fill-ins in the student section, and they were quite lively, too. Every seat was filled!

And again, the Friends and Family band was really good.

Kirk Wessler was in front of us tonight and comments on how good we were. I joked with him that we were not the red pride but rather the Red Sea, so if he mentioned us again, he'd get it right... Kirk was actually a pretty nice guy and seemed very knowledgeable and fair, which was not what I would have deduced from a few of his articles...

I was about to post something similar to that. I talked to him for a bit and he certainly knows his stuff and appreciates good fans.

I know that Rob (Sorry if I am not suppose to mention him by name which is why I left out the last name) does a great job with the ticket office but somehow something got messed up which caused some drama before the game because the students were told that they had to sit in their assigned seat on the ticket and not general admission. The reason this caused a problem is because a lot of students bought their tickets before break but were really spaced out all over the student section instead of just putting all the students in one spot. Others bought tickets just the other day ago and got better tickets than those who bought them before break. I know that it is difficult to organize this but unless the students were there early like we were, most didnt know about the assigned seating meaning there was a lot of complaining and I'm sure a lot of headaches for the ushers. I love the system but I think it needs to be fine-tuned for next season. No matter what, it was still an excellent crowd tonight.

It was more fun down there this time.. No pressure to sit from other fill-ins. I'm glad they're doing it, but I think they should do a bit more fine-tuning. Maybe make it general admission... Hehe, be best if they could make the people try out. If you're not enough of a slathering fan, you don't get the package.

I still love how on of the biggest roars of the night was during halftime on a swished half court shot.... **** those wings were good.

Yeah, once I knew my friend was coming, I had to get two more tickets so we could sit together. I knew that it would be gen admission only because I called the ticket office, but many students didn't know and it was a nightmare the first couple minutes. Everyone around me was moved.

IMO, Kirk is a nice guy and everything. He knows his stuff, knowledgeable, and fair.... but he can be a Pot-Stirrer.

                That's fine.

But maybe he doesn't understand the damage done.

There are people out there who think if it is in the paper - it is a "golden" truth. Over my years I have had to deal with Non-BU fans (so many ISU and UIUC fans and others)... and in the Peoria area, when there is a critical article from KW pointing out maybe a problem at Bradley.. those Zombies think it doesn't go on elsewhere and only at Bradley. Cause if it went on elsewhere, KW would tell them. But KW doesn't - he comments on Bradley, cause this is Peoria and Bradley is the team in the town.

So I don't like that approach and attack. I like people to know about wrong things at Bradley - but also to know wrong things happen all over.

Some think Bradleyfans.com can be like a "police blotter" sometimes, but I think it is because of the rebuttal to the local media not reporting all the uglies of everyone else.

But I understand how some can say - this is Peoria, the PJS is gonna report about Bradley. The thing is... to the non-enthusiastic reader of Bradley and college hoops - they get the impression it only happens at Bradley.

And then that's when I get ticked off - cause every uneducated individual pukes up what KW says like it is gospel and it ONLY occurs at Bradley.

Now bring in "New Media" and Online Message Boards... where nobody has to have the "learned opinion" to be credible. We all can just have opinions. Do with them as you like - agree/disagree/challenge/etc.

I know that a lot of students went up to the front row after the gates opened but I figured that there would be trouble so I decided to not even try and just go to my actual seats. Thankfully the seats to the left and right of me and my gf stayed empty so we were able to move around and actually see parts of the game since there were some tall people standing in front of us
