Creighton lost at home, something that doesn't happen often.
They are now 2 games behind Bradley, with a chance that BU can move 3 games ahead if they can win on Saturday.

I wonder if the refs had anything to do with the outcome.

Their two new guards have been impressive (Ali and Johnny)
Also, its simple how to beat Creighton....
P'iss off P'Allen, slow down The Fox and Witter just enough and you're good....none of the other guys seem to be all that threatening...
Oh...and once again Creighton gets manhandled on the boards....that is becoming a trend...
**Also...Eglseder only played 7 minutes which leads me to believe he was hurt early in the game, and that makes the win even bigger for UNI w/o one of their top scorers, rebounders, and legit inside man....and STILL, Creighton failed to score inside...
Along w/ that CU shot 10 more free throws....if that doesn't smell like Pollard in Altman's back pocket I don't know what does...and STILL they couldn't get it done...
Oh, and just to sweeten things for UNI, it was their first win in Omaha since 1996.

Yes, Eglseder did have a sprained ankle midway through the 1st. He came back after halftime, but I think he was less effective. Moran also had to come out for a few minutes with a sprained ankle in the 2nd half.
What keyed UNI to the win tonight was the play of Johnny Moran (Jacobs HS). He showed absolutely no fear. He was UNI's only offense for most of the first half. The technical that P and Kwadzo got was supposedly due to an exchange b/t Moran and P'Allen. A fairly good source on PN said that the exchange went like this:
"P'Allen called Johnny a "p@##y" and Johnny responded that he should keep faceguarding him or he'll keep scoring. Kwadzo simply got between them and didn't say a word."
On the post-game Moran also said that Kwadzo just stepped in. It was Kwadzo's 4th foul. 1 or 2 possessions later, he gets called for an offensive foul. So, not only did UNI rally to win at that point, but they did it without their floor leader. Pretty impressive. I'm still very surprised by this win. I was optimistic, but the Qwest Center is a tough place to play, and the team inside was the preseason predicted MVC champ.
As for the Braves...congrats on your win and 1st place standing. People will try to take away that your wins were on the road against poor opponents. Don't believe it. Winning on the road is difficult. If you can win your home games and half your road games, you are in the mix for a conference championship.

UNI doesn't have depth beyond it's starters? I'm not saying they are the deepest group, but they have some nice depth.
They average 10 guys, 10 minutes or more. How much depth is necessary? Did they shorten the bench last night, yes. But that's the shortest it's been this year.

ZERO bench scoring doesn't sound like you can argue they have any depth.

UNI went to 4 guards numerous times to counter Creighton's smaller lineups. That's the first game UNI has had so few score. I'm not here to talk trash. That's not my M.O. on here (or any message board for that matter), I'm just trying to add to the discussion.
UNI is deeper than you think. They have 10 guys averaging 10+ min/game and average 16.3 points per game from their bench. That's about a quarter of the scoring. By comparison, Bradley has 10 guys averaging 10+ minutes (one being Egolf), so 9 active. Bradley (based on the last 2 game starters) gets 22.7 PPG from their bench.
Regardless, UNI and Bradley are both out to early in the MVC standings, to most people's surprise. They both suffered season ending injuries to projected starters, and they both field Division 1 inexperience in the backcourt. Bottom line, I think most BU and UNI fans are happy where they are in the standings so far.
