  • Why the Knicks Drafted so Poorly

Here is the emerging story, sort of a conspiracy theory.

It all starts with the fact that LeBron James will become an unrestricted free agent in 2008. He will undoubtedly look for three things when he signs.
1- he wants to sign with a team that will be a commit and spend what it takes to be a winner. He doesn't think Cleveland fits that description
2- he wants to play in the limelight
3- he wants lots and lots of money for himself

So Isaih Thomas is already working on this stuff. There were no real impact players available when the Knicks drafted, so he selected a role player, but not just any role player. He selected Renaldo Balkman who just so happens to be signed with the very same agent who runs the show for LeBron James, Leon Rose.

By the way, the guy the Knicks grabbed in the second round, Mardy Collins, also just happens to be a client of Leon Rose as well. Just a little bit too coincidental, huh? Sound interesting??

The Cavs are offering LeBron a HUGE extension to keep him in Cleveland at least until 2012, but oddly, LeBron has not said even one word about signing the extension contract when he able to on July 12. Look for him to stall as this whole thing works itself out.

Finally, by not drafting very well and by giving away all their picks this year and next, the Knicks have set the stage to be able to draft pretty well in 2008 and beyond, right about the time LeBron gets there, if all works out. Then they'll also be able to cut loose some big salaries and go after some big names on the free agent market and get the suppporting cast for LeBron to win titles. Now lets see if Isaih Thomas can stay around long enough to pull this off.

    Rumor

Yea, I heard this ridiculous rumor as well. I certainly can't believe this to be true! If it is then Isaiah is even dumber than I thought . I've heard where LeBron wants to stay in Cleveland and that ownership will do whatever it takes to sign him. Believe me (and his owner as well), if the Knicks don't win this year Isaiah gets FIRED!

He'd better be able to motivate those boys, or else. I think he honestly feels that he already has the talent and just needs a hard working role-player (Balkman) to win. He compares Balkman to Rodman

I know it may be just a fluke and may not prove a point, but Renaldo Balkman isn't doing all that bad.

Sunday, he came off the bench for the Knicks and had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Isaih Thomas seems to have bought himself a reprieve as the Knicks are actually battling for a playoff spot.
