  • MVC moves ahead of Atlantic 10 into #8 RPI conference

With the conference season starting, there won't be much chance for a lot more movement, but after last night's games, the MVC moved into #8 in conference RPI. This is the highest they have been since the first couple weeks.

That is crazy, I know Creighton got St. Joe and Dayton and Creighton might really be pretty good. But the A10 is a far superior conference. Xavier, Temple and Dayton would all win the Big10 and those 3 along with St. Joe Umass and Rhode Island could win the Valley. That is way off base.

I like the MVC's chances of finishing 8th. Although there isn't much value between finishing 8th and 9th, really.

It's really nice to see the MVC holding steady in the top 10 in a down year.

The NCAA showed last year that even finishing 7th, like the MVC did, isn't worth anything.

I saw UMASS yesterday at U of Houston get beat by close to 35. If they won the Valley this year then the Valley is HORRIBLE. UMASS is not good they are 5-7 yes I know they beat Kansas, but they have lost to Jacksonville State and Wisconsin Green Bay.

Oh and Temple and Dayton would need to worry about winning the A10 because neither would finish in the top half of the Big 10. Yes Dayton beat Marquette but they lost to a Valley team in CU and besides those who have they beaten... Auburn?

Temple is average at best and yes I know they beat Tennessee. They wont sniff the NCAA. 5-6 currently

Rhode Island is the only one of the group of of A10 teams you have pointed out besides Xavier who has a strong team and have played a pretty decent schdule. Those two teams are the only class teams in that conference. Eventually by the end of the season Charlotte might have something to say in that conference.

Well, of course, but in general, to establish a place around 8th or 7th year after year after year after year will eventually earn better scheduling opportunites and better resumes. Think long-term

The West Coast conference will probably move ahead of both the A-10 and MVC. They have a strength of schedule rank of #1.

Haha, Xavier, Temple and Dayton win the Big10? I love mid-majors as much as anyone, but that isn't even reasonable.

Xavier may have a shot, though I doubt it. But Temple? Losses at Long Beach State, to Miami (OH) at home, at Buffalo, and a win at home against Tennessee being there only good win. And Dayton I don't even need to bother with. They are all three good teams, but Xavier would have an outside chance, the other two wouldn't even be in the hunt.

Unless the "big boys" start thinking that we are a good conference with good teams and decide that they don't want to play us anywhere, ever...

Like your precious Big 10 and i think MSt is for real and Ill. is under rared; I only wish I could save your post until march. The big 10 will fall to any of 6-8 A10 teams...

Big10 would be the mid major if they had a challenge...

Or if they did not have the word "BIG" in front of the name. The MVC needs to change to the "Big Valley" or some such name. Gotta get the name BIG in there somewhere and "Missouri" out. I am glad they have branded it "The Valley", but MVC is still the official name. Get rid of it.

No, but this season hopefully we finish with two or three elite teams versus the one and only Drake last year. Plus I'd still rather finish in the top 10 even if we only get one bid, just so we don't fall off too far.

I disagree. The WCC has two HORRENDOUS teams at the bottom with a combined record of 1-26! Plus Gonzaga has been in a free fall lately losing three in a row!

What if we named it "Big Massive Valley That Will Kill You in the Night?"
