  • Thompson...

I knew once that SS was back AT would not get any meaningful playing time. Do you think there is a hardship case that could be made to allow AT to take Human Growth Hormone or Steroids? I have an extra 25 pounds he can have!

Watching sports highlights the other night, I was wondering, does Mike Tisdale (Illini) have any more "meat on his bones" than AT? To me, they seem about the same. (and a taller guy, Mike, needs a lot more muscle to equal the same lifting strength as a shorter AT)..

I figure the only way he gets his PT now the rest of the season is if either Sam or DC is injured for a prolonged time, we have blow-outs, or both players end up in early serious foul trouble....

He got 4 minutes at the end of the game. My girlfriend and I were wondering if he would improve enough this year to get a few more minutes in each game. It sure would help if he could give a couple quality minutes here and there when needed. When DC had fouls sunday and SS had to come back in so quickly, SS looked a little tired. It would have been nice if AT could have given SS a few more minutes of rest. Who knows what game BU will need him for more minutes in the future.

Exactly...and the bigger picture...DC and SS won't be here next year...so he does need some more minutes...whether it be spelling DC at the end of the 1st half or SS when he's played one too many minutes...

I understand they don't want him out there at the end of the game when its on the line...but they can put him in a position to succeed in the middle of a game to grab a few minutes here and there and build him up toward the future where he'll be in there a lot.

I am not saying he should just get the minutes. Coach Les has said he wants him to be in situations where he will succeed. I understand this. I am just saying I hope he can get to the point where he can get a few minutes more each game. He needs to earn them with his play. I do not get to see practices, so I have no idea if he is making progress. That said, put DC and SS numbers together for sunday and it was a really good effort by the two 5s.

This may come as a shock (especially to the coaching staff) ...

But we could actually play a normal sized college lineup occasionally. You know, a 6'10" - 7'0" center ... a 6'8 - 6'10" power forward ... and then smaller guys ...

Think how well we could rebound if we had Thompson, Singh AND Wilson/Brown in the lineup.

Statistically, we will lose three of our four best rebounders next season (Wilson, Singh, Collins). Even though it looks like Roberts and Brown will be our best returning rebounders, we need Thompson to step in and be that third guy.
                Go Braves!

Don't forget about Egolf! Prosser should help out too.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I'm so tired of hearing the injury excuse, I forgot that these guys (Egolf, Warren) actually will play for us again.

I would like to see him play more often but in reality when I watch him play he is not ready to play heavy minutes nightly. If we get the effort and results from DC and SS as we got on Sunday the minutes that AT will be few.

But I compare AT to Bayo. Both redshirted and honestly Bayo was not much until he got to be a Junior then he, I thought, became a very reliable and sometimes excellent player. I expect the same from AT but there must be patience and I think he will eventually be a very good player within our system.

He has 3 years ahead of him and 2 already in JL's system, I would expect big minutes from him next season... he needs to learn to not reach on defense, he loves the block shot, but his development will only continue to improve as I bet his body will also.

The problem is scoring with that line-up. Especially if Edge is in, that leaves only 2 players that can really score, Wilson and Sam. While I am a fan of the two big man set-up, with the current big men we have, when playing two of them and Edge, the Saluki's would outscore us 8 out of 10 times, let alone Creighton or ISU. And then that leaves about no one for subs as well...

Unfortunately, big men take much longer to develop than guards, so while JL is recruiting solid big men, the payoff isn't for 2+ years. Next year with AT and Egolf each with 2 years in the system (with 3 remaining!!) and JP coming in (who might be able to contribute significant minutes), we might see some 2 big man sets. The year following we'll have AT, WE, JP, MK, and likely Wilkins all with significant experience. At that point we might see a starting line-up with 2 big men, a can't even fathom how we will get everyone enough minutes then... But that may be the Kool-Aid talking...

Tell him to come to my house every night and we will drink lots of beer togather, and get bigger and bigger and bigger, and happier and happier and happier
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!
