league seasons on a Sunday. A total of 16 conference games will be played
on the Sabbath in 2008-09 in an effort by the conference for get more
      television exposure and better officials."

I think it's a common misconception that Sunday is the "Sabbath".
Even most Christians know Saturday is the Sabbath ... though they may honor Sunday as a special day of worship.
I don't care to get into a religious argument, but by most everyone's definition, the Sabbath is the day created by GOD as a day of rest and it is the 7th day of the week, the day we call Saturday.
Ask any Jew, as they have commemorated every Sabbath for at least 5000 years, and it has never fallen on a Sunday, and nobody has ever yet made the switch.
If someone wants to move "their Sabbath" to Sunday, then I guess whatever...but ....it would be un-orthodox

      Great religious insight there T

Anyways, I really hope they're right about the better official selection because the last few years have been downright awful and getting worse...

That being said, the officials Sunday left a lot to be desired...

Especially Mr. Phantom Travel...what a joke!

        t,

Are you happy that the PJS had a blog that wasn't positive about 1 of the Illini recruits? You posted before that papers do not write negative sounding articles about programs other than BU. Maybe this just makes the PJS a non-partial paper that reports what it sees, or is the PJS a hater of all programs in Illinois?

It is the 1st portion of the article about an Illini recruit.

If you think he is more quoting his son in the article, than we read things differently. Just interested in your opinion of the PJS writing a negative toned article about the Illini. Thanks for taking the time to read it and respond.

                t,

I read the article as saying the player did not play hard. I (maybe I am wrong) see that as OK. If the article would have used "steaming pile of", I would not think that would be appropriate. I don't think he called this player a bad person in the article.

I respectfully look at it differently than you do. I think it is OK to question poor play and poor effort when it is done in a way that depicts the poor play and poor effort and doesn't call the person a poor person.

The reason for my post in the 1st place was to show that the PJS does not just do critical articles of BU. I want the PJS to do accurate, insightful articles (positive or critical) with the class expected of a news organization.

Literally a month doesn't go by that someone doesn't write and article (KW, DR, even Phil Luciano) about negatives at BU and bring up the fire, the Mike Suggs leaving, the Granger issues, the arrest, the underage drinking, etc....stuff from years ago with inaccuracies and unfounded slams.
I think the reason they bring that stuff up in stories is for background information. We're taught to keep in mind that not all readers will be familliar with stories from the past, and if they relate that we might need to repeat old information to keep them up to speed. I know you look at it a little differently that I do, but thats my take on way they bring up things from the past.

Ummmm... so... the PJS has to keep "reminding" or continually educate the readers. Cause they aren't familiar or up to speed with the stories. (and oh - let's be sure and tell them all the bad crap in the past)

                      LOL!!!

If THAT doesn't say it all about the Drive-by Media and the lack of subscribers/readers/viewers.... Hahahaha....

Thanks amettrick for letting us know the mainstream/drive-by media knows they have a dumb audience that doesn't tune in every day for all the news.

                      Priceless.
