  • The reason we complain....

was on display today. That was the 2nd time this season that we played 40 minutes of solid basketball. It would be different if this team had no talent, but since we've seen it(good d, crisp passing, good shooting at line and from field, multiple scoring threats, etc.), we jump on them when they're not playing to their potential. To the posters who love to proclaim the loss of starters Egolf and Warren as to our troubles...they still weren't on the floor and we waxed a middle of the road Valley team picked to finish 2nd. The only thing I would have liked to see more of today is Mccain decide he wants to shoot instead of dish all the time, but if the Braves decide to play like this night in and night out, they should win 12 games in conference and be a top 3 seed. Take this effort to the road boys against winnable opponents these next two and I'll be a believer.....for now, I was happily surprised.

Amen, this is what we know our team can do and are frustrated when they don't play at their level.

I couldn't agree more....just got back into town after a fabulous ride home...

Awesome effort from everyone that played solid minutes today...

I couldn't be more proud of our Braves!

If we can just play anywhere close to this for the rest of the Valley schedule we have a shot of being the best version of our team...

A total outstanding team effort today...

They should all be proud of themselves and the show they put on for our fans

I believe the reason for us not being consistent is the lack of experience; we are going to look good when we make shots and bad when we don"t ; SIU is an average team at best and it will be important to go to Wichita and take it to them. A.Warren is one of the top players returning in the Valley so anybody that believes his loss has not hurt this team badly knows little about basketball. Take Eldredge off ISU, or Stinnet off of Creighton and see how much effect that would have on them.

No, but if we play like this throughout conference play, we will be a top 3 / 4 MVC team, and everyone negative will forget nonconference and focus on STL.

Not to rain on the parade! I loved the effort and I expect this now each and every time we play in Carver but as we all know the road games in Valley are a bit tougher and with a young team I guess we'll all find out soon how they will react. Just ask SIU about road wins from a young team. SIU will be a different team at home I just hope we play with the same passion and intensity for 40 minuteswhen on the road.

Chitown makes a great point. We critique and criticize because we are passionate about our team, because we have experience the good times and know how great they feel, and because we've seen some things with this group that indicate that we may be able to experience some good times again. All we want is for BU to be the best.

That's all I'm looking for, for us to be the best version of our team. If we can just play with heart and fundamentals, I will take whatever the results are in the standings. I've been saying that all season.

Absolutely, we need to take this on the road, which is something we've struggled with in the past.

I agree...and I believe I saw more heart and a greater intensity and focus than I have seen all year from this team...

We weren't going to be denied today and I hope this is the start of something great...

At least we can rejoice for one night...we start 1-0 and we're in 1st place

This is a very fair comment, and well said. Youth and instability will cause havoc anywhere, but it's fair to look at BU's talent and "critique." On the other hand, I expect a typical JL season: rough start, up-and-down middle, strong finish. With so many great 4-year guys coming in, look for more reloading than rebuilding in the future. Which is bright, btw.

After a very negative thread and all it's following posts, I asked if the MVC schedule had started yet. No one answered.

Maybe we don't all remember, but the comments after the UWM game and the SIUE game went far beyond simple criticism. There was some deeply personal attacks on specific players, over-the-top rips of players' "hearts", cruel comments about coaches and players with terms like "worthless", and even outright predictions by some here that Bradley's players would be dominated by the far more talented SIU players.

And that's just the stuff that was posted and left on the board. Some of the stuff that was deleted can't even be repeated.

If anything, Sunday's game does not justify the absurd degree of extreme criticism, but rather shows that this team of young players, missing a couple of their top players is playing hard, and trying their best, and are worthy of fans' support. They may make mistakes and may struggle on the road, but they are talented, well coached, and they are getting better.
