Naw, these were the real BU guys today. The aliens took them over the last 2 games, but had to leave to make a trip down to Carbondale.

Great win for the Braves! Nice to start the looonnnggg conference season with a W! Hopefully the team keeps improving and moving forward.
IMO the other site is only a good thing for BU...more exposure is more exposure! I will still spend more of my time here, but I will stop in over there as well. Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

Story from BradleyBraves.com
Bradley dumps Southern Illinois, 79-63, in Valley Opener.
PEORIA, Ill. ? Bradley sophomore guard Sam Maniscalco scored a career-best 18 points and senior forward Theron Wilson added 17, leading the Braves (7-5, 1-0 MVC) to a 79-63 victory against Southern Illinois (5-7, 0-1) in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams Sunday afternoon at Carver Arena.? The win snapped a four-game slide against the Salukis and ended a brief two-game skid in league openers.

With nearly 10 minutes left in the game, Boyle, Hare, Clemmons, and Fay were benched and never returned to the game. Bradley stretched the lead out to 27, before taking all their starters out and inserting even some walkons. A few late threes by SIU made the margin 16 at the end.
Mullins was scoreless in the 2nd half. In fact, after he made 3 threes and a couple free throws early in the first half, he never scored again. I thought Sam showed much more energy and outplayed Mullins. Mullins was unable to keep up with Eddren's quickness, and between EM and SM they set up Bradley's offense to perfection. Teron, DC, and Chris Roberts all played extremely well, and dominated the SIU frontcourt. And Bradley's bench clearly utplayed the SIU bench.
The only one of the heralded SIU freshmen that showed anything was Kevin Dillard. He had 21 points, but most came late when the game was over, and he was guarded by deep reserves and walkons.
Between the other 5 heralded freshmen- Nick Evans (0-1), Torres Roundtree (0-0), Ryan Hare (0-2), Justin Bocot (1-2) , and Anthony Booker (1-7)- they were just 2-12, and a total of 15 points.
How about Sam singh's interior defense and 5 steals in just 19 minutes of play! There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

is this a team that is a GOOD team who have been inconsistent and had a few bad outings?
Or is this a bad team that somehow was able to pull off something that hasn't been done in a decade against SIU?

Richard Hamilton... i mean Sam Singh played the best game I have ever seen him play. Maybe he needs to wear that mask for the rst of his career.
The other Sam was pretty good today as well. It could have been his best performace as a brave. After he hit his first 3 pointer I knew he was going to have a good day.
I saw a fire from this team that I havent seen before. We shouldnt lose a game at carver the rest of the year. There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

I think we just saw the BU team that Les was seeing before the season started, and what he was excited. Unfortunately this team hasn't played up to expectations and their own talent level for most of the season, mainly today and against Richmond, plus they laid some real eggs. Hopefully this team will keep this intensity, focus, and execution for the rest of the year.Thinking is the hardest work, that is why so few people do it. -Henry Ford

As I have said all along when we go inside and to the rim good things happen. Also SM was playing a great part of the game at the 2 and was able to set, plant his feet, square up and shoot. I predicted if we could go inside and hit our FTs we would win by 8-10 points. I just did not think that SIUs O was so bad and that they would not try to go inside more. I guess for them to go iinside thay needed to pass the ball in and our guys were just sagging back daring them to shoot except against Mullins. I'm not sure what adjustment they made during the game except towards the end Dillard started shooting more.
On CL's coaching I'm not sure he is already packing his bags on this team. They did not look inspired or really prepared. There were a few adjustments that were not made that they should have made or just maybe we did not allow them to run their game at all."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

Great to see that level of intensity and effort, hopefully we can keep it up!
The thing I liked most was that we never took our foot off the gas. Against SEMO, we had moments where we let up, but until the final few minutes we were going all out in this one and I loved that.
The effort and execution on the defensive end was also solid. Early on, it looked like it was going to be Mullins's turn to be the one to have a career game against us. But we really locked him down on him nicely.
Free throw shooting was also tremendous... that's the one thing that the other team has no impact on, and improving it can make a big difference. And what do you know, it did!
I also loved the poise our newbies showed against a very physical SIU team.
And I agree, the crowd was very impressive!
See, I can be positive when it's merited!

Didn't BU have a dominant home win against SIU in the Sweet 16 season? All I remember is people saying that BU did an SIU (stifling D) to them. I also think that coincided with the light switch coming on for that team as to how important playing aggressive D was & the whole team started to play better.
Can anyone clarify or correct my recollection?
