  • Would it be better?

would it be better if all 11 of our opponents were on par with the team we played last night,
AND if we beat them all even though we didn't play a good game?
Then we'd be 11-0 with an RPI close to 100 and with a SOS of well over 300!
Then we'd be undefeated and hopefully we wouldn't see all the pessimism among the fans.

I'll send a memo to the coach and see if we can get-r-done next year...

    Good idea!

I have often thought that many get too excited after wins and too down after losses.

Can we all hope for better- certainly, but please let's be realistic about this team and its shortcomings...

Every win doesn't mean we are gonna take the conference crown and every loss shouldn't result in name calling and asking for the coaches head.

Am I happy we got a win last night- yes... Happy about the way we did- not so much so.. But when one of your best players (TW) has as many TO's as the young guys- that isn't coaching IMO.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone.......
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.
      Post of the year!

But if we did post rationally, that would deprive those who are addicted to hyperbole!

how are Theron's turnovers Jim Les' fault?

I cannot believe you are suggesting Wilson should be benched in favor of one of the freshman, when for the umpteenth time this season Theron literally carried the team through a few droughts was our best player out there regardless of the TO's.

        one more question....
would you have benched the guy who had EIGHT turnovers in this game??
He is supposed to be one of their team leaders, and yet the coach let the kid play 40 minutes despite 8 turnovers!!

(ps--had you decided to bench him you'd have turned a great win into a bad loss)
BTW-the kid is averaging 4 turnovers a game....might as well bench him indefinitely!!

I'm pretty sure he said it wasn't Les' fault.

OK... I interpreted "that isn't coaching" differently...

Yes.. I was saying that it isn't coaching that causes a senior player to have TO's...
              It is the player...lol...

There is one way we can cut down on turnovers, and it would be to employ a very slow, deliberate style of play.
Some teams do this and occasionally it pays off....but one recent coach at BU got run out of town for such a style and one a little further south of here is already getting heat for his teams averaging in the 50's.

But they don't have a whole lot of turnovers...maybe we should play this way??

No. That'd be worse. And that's the point most are making. "We didn't play a good game" against an opponent we should have beaten by 20 or more points.

Even against weaker RPI opponents we've struggled (UMKC, FGCU, UWM). And we lost two of those. Last night's game was also unexpectedly tough for us, and SIU-E isn't even on the RPI map. If they were, they'd be closer to a 200+ RPI with a 2-10 record.

I accept losses against good team. But not losses or even poor wins over teams we should handily beat.

What would be better? Being 11-0 and having double digit wins over lesser opponents or 6-5 and struggling to win against those same opponents.

So it's better to play an "exciting" style of play and lose than to slow the game down and WIN?

Or maybe I interpreted your post differently...

nobody is going to win all the time...
and if you play a boring, slow style, it is only a matter of time that if you lose then the style will be brought into the equation.

I disagree. Plenty of teams win all the time. Or at a much higher percentage than we do.

give me just a short list of a few teams who "win all the time", I'd like to see that...

I just want to make sure I have this straight - the average BU fan will only accept blowouts over teams they perceive as weak, wins over teams they perceive as their peers (Butler, UW-M) and wins or close games against ranked teams (MSU, UF). It just strikes me funny that going into the games with the above mentioned four teams everyone seemed to talk in a realistic middle ground about BU's chances of a win given their current team make-up and status (Notice I didn't mention injuries because any mention of having quality players injured is an "excuse").

Yet once the game is over and the expected result occurs people seem to go to extremes on both sides of the coin - some are the National Guard guy from Animal House screaming, "everything is OK" while being stampeded and others are hanging JL in effigy, willing to throw the deepest bench reserve in to the mix to get something to change and taking any positive comments made either pre-season or post-game as a slap in the face as though they have been misled to their own detriment over the prospects of this young team.

I just don't get the rift on this board - Folks it's College Basketball, sometimes kids play better than expected (U of I right now) and sometimes they don't play up to snuff, but we watch because we like the school or even out of habit for some of us.

Sure I wasn't completely happy with the way they won last night, but having participated in athletic endeavors my whole life really it only matters who's ahead when the clock hits 00:00. In four weeks they will be in the middle of the conference season and this game will be a vague memory except for the W. I guess to me following the Braves is for fun, I do it as a time filler, a get away and have lived through the good & the bad. It just seems that some of you guys take this far to seriously and way to personally.

Sorry if this post offends anyone, but it just seemed some common sense was needed.
