I am a completely frustrated fan right now. I hate to be negative but I am putting in my request for Thursday of the Valley tournament off. It seems like the offense has no continuity. I hate watching the weave for 30 seconds only to be followed by a bad shot. I saw Anthony Thompson flash open several times only to be covered by the time a guard would look his way. Why not put in four or five set plays? Why not have all of your guards shooting a hundred threes per day? You want to hang with or beat our guys no matter how bad your team may be? Zone it up. Works like a charm!!!!!
    Go small or go home!

I appreciate that. I think there may be a lot of concern this year if this team gets off to a bad start in the Valley, so there may be some criticism from some people. However, hopefully most of it won't be of the "knee-jerk" type, and can be done in a civilized manner. Also, it just may be one of those years where things may not go our way, but as long as we show progress, that's the important thing.

However, I don't know about others, but I'm not ready to write this season off yet. I think we still have as good as chance as anyone to have a good year. And hopefully it will start at home this Sunday against an SIU team that is struggling as well.

Interesting to read all the doom and gloom of this thread and others that appeared after a Bradley win just a week ago!

At what point can we release our Thursday night reservations?

Wouldn't you think from what they claimed about wanting to see BU win that they'd be ecstatic and posting after a win?
The first loss or even the first narrow win'll bring 'em back.
It's New Years. They'll be on soon.

I think everything will go fine on this board as long as the word "irregardless" is not used again.

Now that is funny. Frank Zappa once had an album named "Apostrophe". I don't think the police had anything to do with it though.

IMO, a fan is someone who supports their team through thick and thin seasons. Sorta like "blue hair" Bradley fans. Nothing wrong with being critical of the coaches or players, but always support your team by continuing to go to the games and let them kmow Peoria and the surrounding area will support them no matter what.

                        New Year's Day, sir.

I was out last night and didn't catch much of the game, but it's great to see us off to a 2-0 start in conference. Also nice to see us winning with a little bit of a slower-tempo style last night from what I can tell. Adapting your gameplan to your personnel and the opponent is so critical, and maybe JL is starting to make those adjustments. At any rate, hopefully we can keep this up!

Since I started the thread, I feel as though I should comment as to my surprise of our 2-0 start. I am very pleasantly surprised that we could pull off that road win in a hostile environment and was wrong about the heart of this club. That being said, we have not been tested by the league's best yet(CU and ISU Red). We need to be at worst 3-2 after next Saturday night, and the more I look at MSU, we need to win this one tomorrow too, especially if Cooks is still out. And I've put the APB out for Dodie too. He seems to have disappeared lately. Biggets surprises Wednesday were Singh and Roberts- both with huge games. In fact, the more I think about it, I can't believe what a difference I saw in Roberts from any other game he's played so far.

No matter how good or bad the teams, we should be very happy to be 2-0. Only 8 more Valley road games to go, and we have 1 win already. The heart is there, and maybe the win at WSU and hopefully MSU will give us the confidence we need to play the tougher CU, ISU, and even Evansville on the road. And I agree about Roberts - it looks like he has finally recognized what the game is like in Division I.

I appreciate your complimentary asessment, but I notice it doesn't come without a bit more negativism.

Since you did start this thread, let me remind you what you said, among other quotes attacking me for looking through rose colored glasses when I didn't agree with your negative asessment.--

Where is the coaching? Les looks like he has lost this team.

An 0-4 or 1-3 start to conference is a virtual certainty. The worst part is we don't show any signs of getting better. We show more signs of getting worse. This was a team to get well on and we nearly lost it.

and don't stop looking through those rose-colored glasses

Dodie had an off game at Wichita, offensively. I think it's a little early to dismiss his contribution to this team. I
I don't think every player should be open to pot-shots each time they have an off game.
Dodie has played good, reliable defense, he is still averaging double digit scoring (10.7 ppg- 3rd on the team), and even after his 0-3 from three at WSU, is still the top 3-point shooter on the team among those with enough shots to qualify for MVC statistics.
And his leadership is a big reason why this team played well on the road and against SIU.-
