Our guards need to learn to "set up the screen" a little better also. Wait for the screener to get set before bringing your man into the screen.

I agree. Well said by an obvious knowledgable college hoops observer.

Can I also say that we dribble the ball WAY too much as well?

The "good" teams can move the ball 3-5 times w/in an offense w/o even letting the ball touch the floor...

Then after you set it up, you have to use it correctly, if you don't get shoulder to shoulder with your screen, your defender will slide right over the top of the screen.

I think this is a lot of the problem with our screening issues. The big guys can see that it won't be effective and try to make it effective by throwing a hip into it or stepping toward the guard to help him out. Tweet! Moving screen.

Watching Richmond and Wake Forest last night - I saw a TON of "me-ball". Too much dribbling and not enough passing - from both teams. Isn't Wake Forest a "good team"?

Right - but you watch a lot of teams and many do it without getting called for it. I think the key is to do it at the right time. We don't. No really... we set moving screens too obvious to be ignored. We need to set them so far away from the "motion" of the "motion-offense" it isn't noticed cause everyone is watching the ball. We "Ball-Screen" too much. We need to set multiple screens on-going. That's a "motion-offense" to me. We need to set 'moving-screens' way in advance of the ball. They get noticed less, it takes more passes to get to the open shooter... but when all is said and done... he's wide freakin open from wherever he is at.

The only two players that I know we're going to get something out of are DD and TW. Keep them on the floor because they really don't tire out. AT can't do much worst than DC, go ahead and test him out. CR and TB are inconsistent but always gives effort, especially on the boards but JL needs to limit their roles offensively and (like many others) make them play D. EM has been solid as well but his youth shows plenty. SM needs to sit down until he can learn what a team concept is. DN is inconsistent but has a chance to be a key player for us.

You watch enough ACC ball you'll see that from every team including rule differentiation from the officials...

You should already know by now that ACC is the pre-NBA league...

and that "me" ball got Richmond beat by Bradley did it not while we played a more team concept...

It doesn't matter how great a player you are, 1-on-5 will never be as good as 5-on-5 and the teams that play good "team" ball will usually always beat the street ballers...especially if the talent is close.

I watch a lot of college basketball....and no place do more high screen get called as fouls than in games involving Missouri Valley teams....and more touch-fouls, and soft-contact in the lane get called as fouls.
This exact same stuff and even harder contact go on all the time in the Big Ten & elsewhere, and yet nothing called.
It must be part of the overall plan in this league to do this so as to discourage any decent big man from ever wanting to play in the MVC!

And I agree that Chris Roberts should not be shooting 3-pointers while guarded early in the shot clock.

Are you kidding me! AT was being pushed around by that chunky guy they had. AT was trying to play him up instead of using agility or speed. That is why AT was not playing much yesterday. Chunky would have had him for an after dinner tooth pick.

I wish the Valley would do something about the referees in this conference. They stink and are doing a disservice to the MVC I believe. Did anyone watch the Memphis - Syracuse game yesterday? The refs just let them play. I hate to say this, if I'm a true big looking at heading to the NBA I'm heading to one of the larger schools because at least you will know what contact should feel like. There's a reason POB shined during the NCAA, the refs let him play instead of calling a foul if he looked at someone.

Two of those so called moving screens were bad calls......period......there was one early that we left the screen to quick.....if we stick the screen before rolling we are fine.....I thought we held the screen fine after that 1st one....but the refs were set up for the call...

I try not to complain much about calls, but those and the Theron Wilson foul when he got shoved into the player in front of him and got the 2nd foul on him were game altering calls...

He sets bad screens period , and for a senior he has bad fundementals , he shoots the ball good but he doesn"t rebound or play defense, how many chances are you willing to give him.
