The way I see it, Evansville needs to 1)limit their turnovers and 2)keep North Carolina's big men (Hansbrough, Thompson, and Davis) off the offensive glass. If they manage to do those two things, I think this game may stay somewhat close.

It will be interesting to see how Evansville tries to score - they've taken the second fewest threes in the nation (per total FG attempts), so the 3-pointer isn't really a weapon for them. They get a lot of their points at the foul line, led by Kaylon Williams, Nate Garner, James Haarsma, and Shy Ely. All of these guys get to the line a lot and all shoot at least 67% on FTs. North Carolina has done a good job thus far of not putting opponents on the line, so whether Evansville gets some foul calls could determine how effective they are offensively.

Should be an interesting barometer of Evansville, just to see if they can compete for stretches - although even if they lose by 20, that doesn't mean they aren't a potential NCAA Tourney team.

        UNC 1000
        UE 52

All kidding aside, I don't think this game is going to tell us much about UE. I don't think UNC is probably taking UE too seriously, so the game could be a bit closer than expected. However, UNC could win by 50 and I don't think it would tell us how good or bad UE really is.

UNC is favored by 29 points.

How can this be? Evansville's RPI is right there with UNC's?

Playing at UNC must be worth 29 points. How else can this be explained?

I'd take Evansville plus 29 points if I were to place a bet. I do think UNC wins, but I'm not sure they win by 30.

Would you have taken Michigan State + 34 points in their game against UNC?
99.9% of people probably would have and they would have lost their bets.

The aces are for real what i would give for a team that could block out in the paint like they do. No second chanch point for UNC

I am watching the Evansville-North Carolina game, and I am not sure Evansville is actually playing in this game. The broadcasters have talked non-stop about North Carolina, Tyler Hanbrough and the UNC scoring record, Phil Ford, and all the other greats who have played at UNC, and all about the great Roy Williams, etc.
I am not sure I have heard them mention Evansville yet. Are we sure they are really there?
I couldn't tell you who the players on Evansville are, because these guys rarely mention any of their names.

Go purple aces! Heh. They're actually giving UNC a pretty good game. They might very well be the Drake of this year as one board member suggested.

UNC is slowly pulling away though. Let's see if Evansville can respond.

By the way, Tyler Hansbrough just broke Phil Ford's career scoring record for North Carolina of 2,290 points, set in 1978.

With all the incredible players that North Carolina has had through the decades, more than 70 players who have played in the NBA, their career scoring record was 2,290 points and it has stood for 30 years.

Just for comparison sake, Bradley has had 2 players who have career scoring numbers better than every player who has ever played at North Carolina. Mitchell Anderson (#2 on the BU career scoring list) scored 2,341 points, which Hansbrough will likely eclipse, too, and Hersey Hawkins (#1 on the BU list, and #7 on the all-time NCAA list) at 3,008 points.

                            All-time career NCAA D1 scoring

                            1. Pete Maravich (LSU) 3,667 pts.
                            2. Freeman Williams (Portland State) 3,249
                            3. Lionel Simmons (LaSalle) 3,217
                            4. Alphonso Ford (Miss. Valley St.) 3,165
                            5. Harry Kelly (Tex. Southern) 3,066
                            6. Keydren Clark (St. Peter's) 3,058
                            7. Hersey Hawkins (Bradley) 3,008
                            8. Oscar Robertson (Cincinnati) 2,973
                            9. Danny Manning (Kansas) 2,951 10. Alfredrick Hughes (Loyola, Ill.) 2,914
