Awesome, congrats Sam! We often lose sight as to why these kids are at Bradley and it is always great to hear about athletes who excel in the classroom as well as on the court. And how ironic that this thread lies next to another thread about academic problems at another midmajor, UAB.

Congrats! is all that is needed with this.

Majors are not that important unless you are leaning towards a science, math or engineering career. Just find out what you are passionate about and I guarantee you'll be successful.

Better to wait and pick the RIGHT major rather than waste time and credits on pursuing something that you may not truly be interested in. I know I did NOT pursue the field of my major upon graduation (and I'm glad I didn't). He's in an award winning program and will probably be choosing his major this year; that's the way it works in the AEP Program. This is just another program that makes BU a unique university.

Not sure it's quite time to name the award after him just yet.

Breanne Neufeld from the women's golf team won the award three times this fall and Jenny Van Kirk from women's basketball has claimed the honor seven times in the last three years, including twice this year.

Upon hearing that he just won this again, I was going to say the same thing. We sometimes belittle the players (and coaches) for the failure of a player to shoot a ball into a hoop, when we fail to realize that many scholar-athletes go to a university to actually get an education! I think with all of the horror stories we hear from the big basketball powerhouse "schools", many people think athletes only go to a university to train for the pros. That's not always the case, and much less frequent at mid-major schools.

So my congrats go out to Sam, and let's hope he continues to excel at academics no matter how good or bad his team is at basketball!
