  • Butler at Ohio State

After Bradley turned Butler forward Gordon Hayward into an All American last Wednesday, he is continuing the act in Columbus.
Hayward has 14 of Butler's 19 points as they are tied 19-19 late in the first half. He is 5-6 from the floor, and 4-4 from three point range.--

I think the All American act is an understatement LOL. Butler would be getting blown out by 30 points by now if it wasn't for Hayward's 17 points. The rest of the team is just 4 for 17 shooting at the early 2nd half mark. OSU currently up by 11. Why couldn't they shoot like that here in Peoria.

Hayward is gonna be a big-time stud before he's done at Butler. He almost reminds me of a cross between Reggie Miller and Scottie Pippen.

I know OSU isn't a power house this year but they are still good. Does this put our loss in perspective a bit more? Not saying we roll over as fans an accept it (the L) but Butler appears to be a good team.

Butler loses 54-51, but their last 4 possessions consisted of a missed three with no offensive rebounds, including one at the buzzer.

                Bingo!
They shot a higher percentage against us because wide-open, uncontested 3s simply aren't difficult shots...

And Butler loses 54-51. Hayward lays down 25 points while the rest of his teammates went on to shoot 7 for 32. A whopping 21% FG shooting. YIKES. They did manage to make 13 out of 15 FT's which kept them in the game until the end. Now if only BU can make some FT's to keep them in it until the end.

I suppose that depends on your definition, because, to date, they've been the best team in the Big Ten. That said, Butler needs to win this game, just too many unforced errors.

Butler is a good team but we are suppose to be a good team also and had we played up to our capabilities we should have won that game at home, because of all the new players on the team we have not been consistent which has led to 2 losses to teams that we should have beaten , I know that we will be better team come tourn. time but we need to finish in the top 4 of the conference in order to give ourselves a chance at winning the tour.

                        dogs,

Do you feel better about the Braves performance against Butler because they played the Buckeyes close? For me it is not the winning or losing at this point in time, but the lack of fundamentals and intensity. Play hard, do the fundamentals and you get beat by a better team, OK.

I NEVER feel good about a loss. I'm just saying, as a realist, sometimes you tip your hat to the better team. I'm not a good enough talent evaluator or assistant coach to know if BU played real bad or if Butler is just simply better then us.

Also not making excuses for these guys. They need to play alot better. The lack of fundamentals is VERY discouraging.

What if BU played bad and won.....I understand your point and won't argue about the basic premise of good fundamentals and intensity. I'm just saying from MY limited understanding of the game maybe its less about us playing horrible and more about the "better" team making us look bad.

Sometimes if it looks, walks and quacks like a duck its a duck and there is no doubt BU played some bad ball but this loss bothers me a tad less knowing this Butler team is very good. Does it make me feel better..not really just trying to be a realist and put things into a bit better perspective.

With that said I'm looking for a better effort Sunday. Will a win mean we hustled and had better fundamentals OR that we looked better becuase we aere better then SEMO?
