It automatically guarantees Devo can continue to play for a month since the judicial herarings board won't even meet again until after they return from Xmas break ....'til mid-January.

Note the MAJOR difference between how BU handled the Ruffin case and how Syracuse is handling this case (and this is handled similarly by many of the BCS schools -- see Tennessee). Some posters and the PJS complain about the handling of the Ruff case but are nowhere to be found with their opinions on Syracuse...... Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

in all honesty, I don't care what Syracuse does and how they or their fans handle this issue...
I think the only reason it is worthy of discussing is to point out the lack of reason and hypocrisy that went on in Peoria over cases of far less severity.

I just heard on ESPN Radio that Devendorf has to complete 40 hours of community service before he can play another game for the Cuse...

yes, he has been given a suspension by the University until he completes 40 hours of community service.
The earliest he can return is said to be the beginning of the spring semester, 3 weeks away.
He is thus going to miss at least six games

          Coppin State Dec. 22
Seton Hall (Big East play begins) Dec. 30

Jim Boeheim must be a bit embarrassed that it took a few students on their campus board to overrule him and his decision not to impose any penalties at all.

I was thinking instead of embarrassed he is big time P'Od.

                I just don't get it.

Even in the best case scenario, you'd have to imagine Devendorf would have to sit a few games as opposed to the whole season. So let him serve it in the non-con instead of the conference.

This fact leads me to lose all respect for Boeheim. A sensible person would've suspended Devendorf, then appealed, so that the missed games count as served time. To say Devendorf should get zero suspension is silly.

It would appear that the athletic dept. was given every opportunity to do the right thing but when they chose to do nothing the students were forced into trying to correct this mistake.
