Let's be honest, when it comes to BU and recognition, the first association many, many, many members of the general public make is the Basketball program (feel free to subsitute another school and another sport).
Deciding to be a member of the flagship program and public face of the university comes with a different set of rules. It's part of the package. They ARE different from the regular joe schmo student (like I was) because of their public profile. If joe schmo student goes out and does something dumb (or good, even) it's not going to make the news, or if it does make the news, it will not have as much impact like it will with the athletes, exactly because joe doesn't have a public profile like they do. Their actions WILL be scrutinized on and off the court (or playing field). They SHOULD and WILL be held to a higher standard. I'm sorry, but that comes with the territory, and if they don't know it when they're getting recruited, they better figure it out real fast.
Is that "fair?" No. But as I've said earlier, life doesn't get any easier once you leave, they're going to have to learn how to deal with adversity and criticism eventually; this is all part of the learning experience of college. Do they have to "grow up" faster than other students? Yep. But that is one of the trade-offs that comes with accepting the offer to represent the school.A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.

First and foremost, I think Eddren McCain should be the starting point guard. I like Maniscalco but I think he would be better at the 2 even though he's a small 2. It seems like when he plays point its tougher for him to get a good shot off. EM is very quick with and without the ball and the team seems to flow better with him at point.
Secondly, I think Taylor Brown should start. He plays hard whenever he is on the floor. He has a knack for getting to the ball, and he seems consistent with his midrange game.
Third, I'm not sure what to say about Theron Wilson. At times I really enjoy watching him, but at times, when he lets his emotions get the best of him, its hard to watch. I remember watching one of the Florida tournament games on Comcast and he was jawing at someone and Dick Versace said, " What he needs to do is shut up right now!" I couldn't have agreed more. Last night I saw more of the same. Theron wants to stare at opponents and jaw after a coast to coast play........unacceptable! Great or not, no player should act like that and I think we all as Bradley fans expect more from our guys.
Fourth, why not play Anthony Thompson? And I'm not talking 2 minutes at the end of the game. I would like to see meaningful minutes. Give the kid a shot of confidence. Put him in when it counts. If Bradley is going to compete in the Valley this year or the next few years he needs to get experience and quick.
WAR - People crapping on other people's couches!!!!
2) Agree, but I would also be fine if he just started getting more minutes.
3) I don't think the problem is Theron's emotions. I just don't think he's quite as good as people on here thought he was. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but your team isn't going to be a conference title contender when he's your best player.
4) Did you watch AT play defense on Wednesday? He looked completely lost. He had no idea where to go on a ball-screen. I assumed that must be the reason that he isn't getting more minutes at this point. I'm all for giving him more PT, but only when he's not going to be a defensive liability.

But Theron is the classic 'tweener'...If he were 6'8" and played with his level of desire and heart, he would be an absolute beast in the post...but he's not 6'8"...he's 6'5" and just doesn't have the ideal skill set to be consistently successful on the perimeter...He is not a good ballhandler and isn't a knockdown 3-point shooter...so he really is kinda stuck between roles. Not big enough to be a go-to guy as a post player...and not a good enough ballhandler or a consistent enough shooter to be a go to guy out on the perimeter...
He's a really good athlete...he'll help us as a slasher, and he'll rebound as well as a 6'5" guy possibly can...he'll hit an occasional 3-pointer...but he just isn't a guy that has the size/skill combination that would allow him to take over a game consistently...if he were 3 or 4 inches taller, he could take over in the post on a nightly basis...if he had better handles and a more consistent shot, he could be a go-to guy as a shooting guard or small forward...
Of course if he were either of those things above...he'd probably being playing for Kansas right now...so what can you do...

The players are young adults and should be treated as that. How would you like someone to speak ill of your son or daughter? They are public figures but when has it been OK to completely bash people. Just because it is done by the media on a consistent basis, does not make it right. I thought the BU supporters and alumni were a step above that crap."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

I agree with you on AT and the ball screen. He got beat pretty badly while trying to hedge and recover on that screen. I'd still like to see some more minutes from him though. Why not let him get some minutes while we are in a zone?
And again, twice against Butler BU went to a 1-3-1 zone, with Sam M playing the bottom 1. He actually stripped Matt Howard while he was making a post move late in the second half. Maybe Sam M is our new center?DUBL R 1

But I would agree that out and out bashing or attacking them on a personal level would be going too far, IMO...
