Remember, the coaching staff plans the whole off-season and early practices around playing with the lineup that is expected. When injuries decimate this plan it will take both time and practice to right the ship. You, more than most, SaintLouisBrave should know this. Especially since you say you played at such a high level in highschool.
I am just wondering... so do we have a "system" and we plug players into it? Or do we have players and create a system around them... then after losing a couple key players, we can't plug others into it... so do we have to create a new system? I'm just kinda thinking out loud so nobody really has to answer.

at this point in the season you have to understand we have a young team and the guys that are freshmen look like they are getting better every game look at EM i think he is our best point looks better then sm last year at this point. we all want the team to be a powerhouse but it will never happen because we aren't NC,DUKE AND UCLA were they have one and done players every year we have to look at every2 or 4 years to have a team go to the ncaa postseason. think about it and for AW something called a redshirt should happen because this season can let the young guys learn how to play D1 ball

I'm still on the bandwagon but I say we need to start playing our future and put TW at the 3 so he can have a chance of playing somewhere after he leaves... I'm really not to surprise of what is happening without AW and an inside presence. OUr D though looked horrible today and I'd also like to switch SM over to the 2 spot and be used like the Bulls used Steve Kerr. SM was being isolated and is a defensive liability. I do love his heart but his D can only get better if he either get's taller or quicker. I do hope we see some changes and we will not be playing on Thursday. The Valley is fairly weak this year.

Jim Les would be one heck of a coach if he could create a replacement for Andrew Warren from the others on the bench.
I'm tired of the constant excuses....

You guys really need to stop using them...

EVERY team in the conference at some time or another has lost players...

Creighton lost Funk, who was much better than Warren

ISU lost Bryson who was POY...

            It happens to everyone...

If thats the mentality they have because Andrew and Will can't play, we might as well just pack it in and forfeit the rest of the games...

Obviously it proves one thing to me for sure, and that is Jim Les can not adapt to change, and it just needs to be said for what it is...

There are one of two things, either our players aren't as good as they were supposed to be,

            OR

Our coaching staff just isn't that great...

After this long, its hard to continuously blame it on the players because the players change, yet the constant dribbling around the perimeter, the weave, the 4 small 1 big offense, the poor man defense, the poor 3-pt shooting defense are all there and have been there for quite awhile...

We used to be able to cover it up w/ either a O'Bryant inside, a Sommerville who could play w/ anyone, or a Crouch who could shoot 3's like they were layups, but unfortunately, we don't have those players anymore and maybe just maybe the Coach should adapt the team to what we actually have on our roster and not what he wants them to be.

                Thanks for making my point.
Go back and check those years that Creighton lost Funk and ISU lost Bryson. Those teams underachieved those year, when they would have likely been NCAA teams.

Facts are facts. I am sorry you are tired of hearing what is a proven fact. I think it's unrealistic to think a team should overcome the loss of the best player/top scorer. It's not going to happen. If Bradley doesn't get AW back this year, we will see them struggle to beat good teams.

We dont have a go to guy that can stick the ball in the hoop when we need it and its not like we are playing jokes like isu, umkc bad loss stuck with fl and msu for the 1st half then couldn't buy a basket no one is a true scorer

Did those teams lose home games and play all the wrong players?

Somehow I don't think they did....

Underachieve yes, BUT lots of teams have won lots of games w/o their top players and not whined about it the entire time...

There are still guys that are busting their butts and trying to make things right...unfortunately some have the same attitude you have and have promptly given up...

Somehow I think there are still about 10 guys that can play basketball...otherwise they shouldn't be here...

The season is not over yet, but with the attitude of not being able to overcome injuries this early, it may as well be.

First, if anyone thinks we can or should be as good without AW and WE as we would be with them, they're crazy. They're both contributing starters, both lost for the season, and our team isn't as good without them. Adjust your expectations accordingly. I personally accepted a long time ago that AW wouldn't be with us. It's time everyone else did too.

As far as JL having to resort to taking things away or whatever, well, I am not sure what to think about that. He's the coach, he's closer to this than any of us are. What he's talking about, I am not real sure. I don't see this stuff happening at other successful programs so I am not sure what to think. We generally don't do things the conventional way, so I will wait to pass judgement until we see results one way or the other.

I did that a long time ago as well. In fact, it was driving me nuts to see every other post saying how everything will be much better when AW returns. Well.....maybe all those people were talking about next season, because that's what it's starting to look like.

To get back on the topic of this thread...

Does anybody actually know what kind of privileges will be taken away? I mean until the new fieldhouse is built, how glamorous is it to be an athlete? First pick of classes, nice accommodations on the road, good meals? Besides that what else is there to take away?

I don't buy the two starters. WE wasn't really a "starter" because he started two games. Let's face it we're not as good as we hoped we be.

Here are the facts: We can't play perimeter defense. We can't shot the 3. We have no center. AW could make a difference but he would be our only go-to guy and therefore easy to defend.

All-in-all I think we have some talent and reason to be happy about the future. So we have a bad year and more on.

I got off the band wagon after we lost to DIII team but I'll jump back on next year. I will just enjoy this year for what it is and not get too stressed or expect anything.
