"Privileges" taken away

Coach Les told Snell and Co. that the guys in the program get treated very well, and will have certain privileges taken away until the begin to appreciate what they have here.

Any ideas what this means specifically?

I'm guessing one will be "no practice, no play".

yeah it means no steak dinners just ask danny granger sounds like he is being to soft on the guys we looked better with all freshmen on the floor at the end long road a head but down the road this team will be very good but we have to drink the kool aid very slow not pound it as if we never had it

Well that would mean that they will be locked out of their locker room and forced to make travel arrangements on their own.....Oh wait, that would be Bob Knight, not Les! :D

We could only get lucky enough that he would mean that guys who actually play well in games get to play more (i.e. McCain, Brown)

Along with that, how about we take away some stuff from him...his office...his car...

The players aren't the only ones screwing up...

It seems like 7 years later and we still can't guard the 3 and we still make errors in judgment like poor substitution patterns and playing guys minutes they have no business playing...

Seems to me like we're seeing a lot of similarities at this point to why the previous regime got the axe...

And really? The injury excuse again? We're all starting to get really tired of it...EVERY team has injuries!

Its up to a "good" coach to work around those and find something that works...and its obviously NOT the current lineup we keep sending out there.

Record w/ Collins in starting lineup: 1-4

Now can you honestly tell me Thompson could do worse?

I certainly hope if its all about practice that our "better" players pick it up, otherwise we we're certain to be looking at Thursday night in St. Louis.

I don't know that any other MVC team is missing 2 of their starters, including their leading scorer and best player. It's going to have an effect when you try to beat one of the best teams in the country.

Jim Les would be one heck of a coach if he could create a replacement for Andrew Warren from the others on the bench.

I do have to comment, with injuries we are .500
I believe would of killed to go .500 when PG, JC, DR... got injured..

I TOTALLY agree. A mid-major team CANNOT lose two starters and expect to win consistently so soon. When one of those starters is argueably your best player it is even less likely that a mid-major will win right away.

Remember, the coaching staff plans the whole off-season and early practices around playing with the lineup that is expected. When injuries decimate this plan it will take both time and practice to right the ship. You, more than most, SaintLouisBrave should know this. Especially since you say you played at such a high level in highschool.

I do think the coaching staff needs to work on a backup system of a few, easier to execute sets in stuations as this..

I am just wondering... so do we have a "system" and we plug players into it? Or do we have players and create a system around them... then after losing a couple key players, we can't plug others into it... so do we have to create a new system? I'm just kinda thinking out loud so nobody really has to answer.

at this point in the season you have to understand we have a young team and the guys that are freshmen look like they are getting better every game look at EM i think he is our best point looks better then sm last year at this point. we all want the team to be a powerhouse but it will never happen because we aren't NC,DUKE AND UCLA were they have one and done players every year we have to look at every2 or 4 years to have a team go to the ncaa postseason. think about it and for AW something called a redshirt should happen because this season can let the young guys learn how to play D1 ball

I'm still on the bandwagon but I say we need to start playing our future and put TW at the 3 so he can have a chance of playing somewhere after he leaves... I'm really not to surprise of what is happening without AW and an inside presence. OUr D though looked horrible today and I'd also like to switch SM over to the 2 spot and be used like the Bulls used Steve Kerr. SM was being isolated and is a defensive liability. I do love his heart but his D can only get better if he either get's taller or quicker. I do hope we see some changes and we will not be playing on Thursday. The Valley is fairly weak this year.

I'm tired of the constant excuses....

You guys really need to stop using them...

EVERY team in the conference at some time or another has lost players...

Creighton lost Funk, who was much better than Warren

ISU lost Bryson who was POY...

It happens to everyone...

If thats the mentality they have because Andrew and Will can't play, we might as well just pack it in and forfeit the rest of the games...

Obviously it proves one thing to me for sure, and that is Jim Les can not adapt to change, and it just needs to be said for what it is...

There are one of two things, either our players aren't as good as they were supposed to be,

OR

Our coaching staff just isn't that great...

After this long, its hard to continuously blame it on the players because the players change, yet the constant dribbling around the perimeter, the weave, the 4 small 1 big offense, the poor man defense, the poor 3-pt shooting defense are all there and have been there for quite awhile...

We used to be able to cover it up w/ either a O'Bryant inside, a Sommerville who could play w/ anyone, or a Crouch who could shoot 3's like they were layups, but unfortunately, we don't have those players anymore and maybe just maybe the Coach should adapt the team to what we actually have on our roster and not what he wants them to be.
