It seems that Bradley has some games when the 3 point shots just don't fall. In the 4 wins this season we are 29-81 on three pointers for 35.8%. In our 3 losses we are 14-63 for 22.2%. It may be a little early to jump to this conclusion but it appears when we shoot it good we will win. When we shoot it bad we have a real good chance of loosing.
Lets look at it another way if we shoot over 35% on 3's we are 2-0. When we shoot under 35% we are 2-3. Against UIC we shoot 4-21 or 19.0% and still won but we shot a ton of free throws which bailed us out. Against FGCU we shot 5-21 for 23.8% and still won but that was against a really bad team(Sagarin has them 320/347) and we bearly won.
SM has been really bad thus far 7-37 18.9% and DN bad too at 6-24 or 25%. TB is 1-6 but he has taken only 6 shots so he is not really the problem. SM hit 3's at a rate of 36.7% last year so you would figure him for better. Maybe it is his foot, maybe it is the line back 12" or maybe it is the sophmore slump like Crouch had. DN is more of an unknown. AW should help our cause if or when he plays as he shot 40.6% last year and made more 3's than anyone but Crouch last year.
It seems that with a small line up we don't have much choice but to play the 3 point game. We may not have the bigs this year to pound the ball down low when the 3's are not falling. Hopefully we can move away from this in the future because the result seem to be we win some games we wouldn't ordinarily win when the 3's fall and loose some we shouldn't when they are not falling such as UMKC(3-17 17.6%).
Maybe it is too early to jump to these conclusion and maybe SM and DN come on strong. Or maybe the line back 12" changes the game and we don't have the shooters or the big guys to play a different game. Lets hope shooters shoot and our bigs step up when they don't.
