  • We've got a great shot today

Who thinks we will upset Michigan St. today? I've only seen them play twice this year and MSU looked awful in both the Maryland and UNC games.

I'm new here so maybe it's just some enthusiasm, but I think the Spartans are horribly overrated and we can sneak past them.

    Thoughts?

The only way to compete with MSU is go big. Their bigs oustside Morgan by and large aren't great, but they are strong.

Their big man Suton is also out. Their other big guy, Roe, who they thought would be an all-star is just coming off knee surgery.

      I'm liking our chances.

        Kool-aid tastes good but ...

        From CBS Sportsline preview:

"This will be Michigan State's first game at the Breslin Center, where it has won 35 straight non-conference games and 22 in a row overall, since opening the season with a 100-62 victory over Idaho on Nov. 16."

I don't see those streaks falling today, sorry. There's always a chance but I'm not counting on it.
        Go Braves!

I want this game bad and I think we can get it. Everything has to fall into place and a big key is the first 7-8 mins. if we can handle their initial barrage and some how get them to hang their heads we will wins. Rebound and take care of the ball, get some easy buckets. This is a winable game for us.

They are good at home, no doubt. I just think we can keep it close with their injuries. Our guys shouldn't be intimidated after playing them a couple years now. We came close last year at Carver, so why not now?

Where do I begin? Because we're on the road? Because we're missing two 1,000 scorers from last year's team? Because we're missing two starters from this year's team? -15 is a LOCK! Pound it!

Exactly...we came CLOSE at HOME, LAST year

with a proven 3 point shooter the nations leader in assists and a better "big" then what we have this year we couldn't do it last year with all of those in our favor...what makes it so do-able this time around?

with WE in (& able to keep DC on the bench) we have a chance to make it interesting every once in a while like we did with Florida unfortunately we do not and this should be a blow out...BB I'll be very happy and excited if its 15...this will be in the twenties once again like the first game in the 3 game series...that was 29 points this will be similar

but GO BU! I'll still be cheering for you.

We have a chance to win just like any other game. It's just going to take a significant departure from anything we've seen from our current staff to get it done.

If we win, I will be exceptionally pleased. If we lose, we're par for the course.

Do you really think the staff will be the reason we win or lose? This staff could coach the game of their lives and we could still lose by 20. We could have John Wooden or Dean Smith coaching this team, and we could lose by 20. We don't have the size, talent, or health to compete with these guys today. I don't think anything the staff does or doesn't do could really change that.

If AW and WE were playing I'd give us a shot but they are not and we'll be on the road. These games are played for a reason so miracles do happen but -15 seems pretty good to me under these circumstances. To win we would be asking our Freshen to play at such a high level that I cannot see it happening for 40 minutes.

No. But I have little confidence that the staff would put together a game plan in order to compete.

My point is that in order to win today, we need to go big. But I have zero confidence we will.

Two years ago, Jim talked in the pre-game about how important it would be for Singh to play to matchup with MSU's size. Then Sam didn't get into the game until it was already out of reach.

I just want to see evidence that we are put into a position to win, night in, night out regardless of who or where we are playing.

I actually think we have a realistic shot at this game.

I'd give us a puncher's chance if we were 100% healthy. With 2 guys down and out, I don't think we have a chance even if we go big. It's hard to win without one of our league's best players and our most athletic and capable big man.
