  • Will Franklin

I just watched the KU and Pit NCAA games again and I have to say that Will Franklin was a bigger part of the wins than I remembered. The kid was solid and did a lot of things right. Was he not our second choice and only received an offer after another guard turned BU down?

He should be fun to watch this coming year.

Will is solid, and just does not seem to make mistakes.
    I agree with you Mex.

I agree. When I watched the games again, I was impressed how good Will's defense was. He has surprising lateral quickness, and guards players right up in their faces. He also hit some huge shots for Bradley.
And Will is a jokester and a real fun guy who gets along with all the other players. A personality like his is valuable to keep everybody loose, especially at times like the NCAA tournament with all the pressure. We saw Kansas and Pitt players loose their cool, but not Bradley's.

flip, that's what I said over on the other board, but a lot of people still aren't convinced.
Even when you throw JJ Tauai into the argument (which gives BU three guards who each are four years out of high school,
some thought SIU, WSU, Drake, etc... would challenge with their guards.
Names like Ogirri, Mullins, Korver, etc...came up, and I have to say there is room for doubt, unless both DRuff and Will stay healthy and true to form.
I concede it isn't going to be unanimous, but I believe the title of the "Valley's Best Backcourt" is Bradley's to lose.

only backcourt that can come close is siu's with mullins, tatum and young but they are not as good offensively as bu's backcourt.

I've been on the Will Franklin bandwagon for awhile now. I think he will have a great year.

The problem doesn't look to be the backcourt this year. It makes me nervous that BU is depending on some new guys in the frontcourt.

Did I say "an all new frontcourt"?

no, sorry. really think xavier crawford will be the valley newcomer of the year though.the sky is the limit for him.

plus no other team has that good of a frontcourt either.

I think that's true, as no Valley team will be both strong and deep at front court.
UNI will be as good as it gets in the front courtbut both Stout and Coleman have broke bones in the past year and Eglseder is facing some kind of foot surgery

yea and wichita state lost the valley player of the year in paul miller.creighton returning watts and tolliver probably will have the best frontcourt, and they will also have funk who can play #3 or #2.they will be our main competition, imo.

                          Agreed on posts so far.

                          New idea...

If the MVC is lacking a lot of talented front courts, then would it be fair to say the MVC will not have as good a year this coming season vs this past season.

Yes, I know the saying you need the guards and back court... but what about needing the Air-craft Carrier.

Maybe the MVC drops a few slots this coming season. We will still be competitve. And we will be deadly. But living by the 3 (and living on perimeter shooting)... means dying by them.

I don't like hanging my hat on perimeter shooting teams. Illinois got to the Championship on it (but I was about the only one who saw their 'motion' offense was based on moving screens) and St Joes did well a couple years ago.

I guess I hope Bradley is H-O-T all year.
