  • Missouri Valley Expanding - Adds Two New Affiliate Member Schools

    In soccer only...

SIUE and Central Arkansas join as Valley members...

Here's something most people don't know...

SIUE is already one of only 21 schools that OWN an NCAA Division I men??™s soccer championship (1979)
and they have over 470 wins in program history.
SIUE played DI soccer until they reclassified as DII in 1996.

Good deal, 2 more mediocre teams to drag down The Valley RPI.

do they have an RPI for soccer?
        answer----yes.........

(Bradley's (at 6-11-1) soccer RPI this year was 170, better than ISU's basketball RPI presently)

My bad, (soccer only) it was that misleading headline that confused me.

You should work for The Peoria Urinal Star.

When we add Butler and SLU for basketball I will get excited about the new 'power' basketball conference in America.

I'd always heard Urinal Jar, which I think is pretty funny.

honestly, I am not into name calling.....

                  but here's a good question....

this morning, Kirk Wessler ran a nice, long column about the Illini, in which
he made several references to "picking at scabs"....

...I have basically only heard that phrase from one other person ever....and I believe it was a very prominent message board poster...
anyone else recall............Murph, surely you recall??

I think this is a good move for the MVC. After losing W. Kentucky last season the Valley was down to 6 soccer schools. Both SIUE and C. Arkansas have solid soccer programs and this should only help strengthen the league.

When it comes to the PJS, just Urinal is enough.

Urinal Jar has been what it is for a very long time. What is disconcerting is all the other national newspapers that are trying to emulate them. The newspaper business has become more of a tabloid/sensationalism paper then a true journalistic medium. I feel bad for all those journalist who went into the profession to make a difference. They now have to compete for space on the front page with Brittney Spears and Paris Hilton. So as much as I did not like the PJS while at BU the paper here in SF, The Chronicle is a piece of junk and the national elite newspapers are heading in that direction.

I'm not sure what the reporting medium is truly going to look like in the future but right now it looks scary. The national newspaper groups are getting purchased by individuals with their own media agenda that is not about honest journalism but $$$ or propaganda. The Internet is filled with a bunch of pieces that have not gone through any editorial process that becomes facts instantaneously. True journalist do not have any incentive to continue their practice. A vast majority of the population have such a short attention span that a well written article of more then 3 paragraphs is passed over for the short pieces on our celebrities.

BTW...Any journalists on this board please respond to this post with your opinion. I'm usually a positive type person but I cannot find the silver lining yet in the new medium for true ethical journalism besides the ability to reach more people quicker but as I have always said, "garbage in is garbage out."

Forget SLU....Western Kentucky would be a better get for basketball

haha this is very typical of this board. This is a thread about soccer and yet most of the posts are about basketball still...or the PJS

and for those of you who say SIUE will drag down the Valley (in soccer) they will not. They've always had a good soccer team and now if they can boast about being a D1 team playing consistently against the likes of Creighton they will bring in some good recruits from the STL area...which IS a high school soccer city and has good players
