You didn't make any errors, you don't play infield for the Cubs. But IMO you were critical by suggesting he got his points when the game was out of reach. Did you ever expect this game to be in reach? If they got beat by 30 and he makes 4 of 5 3's, his talent wasn't wasted. He did his part.

I guess my intent to tweak UIUC fans worked.

So you can't be a Bradley fan and also be a fan of Illinois? Tweak all you want, but make sense with your tweak.

Guys - understand... I don't get all worked up over baseball and I don't understand all the hooplah people feel. I am born/raised Cub fan but have no problem rooting for the Cardinals like in 2005 World Series.

If you are one of those type of fans when it comes to College Hoops, fine - sorry I put your undies in a bunch.

But if anyone wants to try and fake me out that rooting for UIUC and Bradley is ok cause they are on 2 different levels is full of crap.... they might play in 2 different conferences and they might have better facilities, etc... last time I checked, they both compete for the same ultimate goal of winning the Div1 NCAA Championship. (that's right just like Eastern Illinois, etc - we're all on the same level. I just respect E Illinois more than some UIUC fans respect anyone outside the BCS)

So go ahead and root for all the teams you want. I don't care.

              Sorry to tangle the undies.

Don't remember seeing where anybody said Illinois and Bradley were on different levels. Looks like somebody, somewhere, sometime, must have "tangled your undies" as you so eloquently put it. Wasn't on this thread anyway. Hard to root for the Cardinals in the 2005 World Series, when it was between THE Chicago White Sox and Houston.

There's an article this morning on how Indiana matched up so poorly against Wake because of size.

"The Wake Forest Demon Deacons played four players Wednesday night
against Indiana that stood 6-foot-11 or bigger. Then on top of that they
have a pair of probable future NBA players in 6-foot-9 forwards James
Johnson and Al-Farouq Aminu. It was a nightmare match-up for a Hoosier team"

then the story goes on about how Indiana will be in much better shape next year because they landed 7-footer Bawa Muniru, who was at the Wake Forest game and sat right behind the IU bench. He made the drive over from Mt. Zion Academy in Durham to see his "future Hoosier teammates".

                  but...........
Indiana already has one 7-footer, Tijan Jobe...and he barely plays
Jobe played only 8 garbage time minutes in the game vs. Wake (and was scoreless), and Jobe averages only 7.8 mpg and 0.3 ppg, 1.5 rpg.
So is Bawa Muniru going to be any substantially more help?
I checked Bawa's stats at Mt. Zion (4-1)....
he is 7th on the team in scoring at 4 ppg.

Thanks Chico. 2006 World Series - just another example of how little I care for baseball.

And I know nobody mentioned the different level thing. I have heard it before in the past and it does tick me off. So whenever I hear people say they like to root for UIUC and Bradley - that's what it reminds me of. So to me - if a fan likes rooting for both, then they either don't passionately follow a team or they think there are different levels. And now people can argue with me all they want about how dare I question how much of a fan they are - blah, blah, blah... I don't care. My minds made up and it won't be changed.

Maybe getting back to the topic a little - I rooted for UIUC in that game. If you didn't notice, I had a friendly wager on it (sorta). They win, B10 wins the challenge and SFP is out a couple jars to me.

I know what you mean. Certain type of fans can turn other fans against their team by going overboard with their mouth when their team wins. I know, there are 3 teams, 2 pro and 1 college, I want to see lose because of their fans. A lot of us like to root for our home town team and our home state team, but when they play each other we root for the home town team.

I don't see anything wrong with rooting for both teams. I was an Illini fan long before I was a BU fan.
I actually support the BU program and not U of I but my emotion is probaby deeper for Illinois...I hope they both do well

I know EXACTLY where you are coming from Mob... I started out being a Bradley fan as BU is where my father graduated. We went to some games and I was hooked.... Back in the day, I tried to get interested in the Illini, but just couldnt. That was during the Lou Henson years.. I still dont like Henson as a coach to this day! A couple of years ago when the Illini made their run in the NCAA's I was probably the only person in the bar rooting for Arizona! Later that year, a friend of mine invited me to hear Bruce Weber give a speach at the PCC... I came away with a greater appreciation of Weber, but I still cant get that interested in the Illini...

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

That's a bit of what turned me off to the Illini. When they were very good a couple of years ago, all these sort of fairweather Illini fans emerged from the woodwork and acted like they were huge Illini fans. That in itself would have been fairly harmless, but what caused me to hate the Illini is when those same woodwork fairweather fans would talk down on Bradley as if they had any idea what they were talking about. Those people have all disappeared (predictably) over the last couple of years, but I REALLY didn't like it... Enough so that I'm now very turned off on the Illini, whereas I would normally be just kind of ambivalent.
