if that be the case, then the coach has to take responsibility for that!!

BUT here is the play-by-play and it is clear that Illinois had used only 4 time outs and this proves they still had one.
Thus, even more, it is the coach's obligation to get a time out and with 10 seconds left draw up a play that'll get a shot.

found this discussion on the Illinois board, indeed in his post-game radio show Weber admitted he had a time out but didn't call it, although the announcers had said there were no time outs left.

also, didn't the Iowa player have a time out with 2 sec. left, instead of trying to throw the ball back in?
even though Brommer was fouled, he is such a bad FT shooter, he missed the front end of the 1-1.
Looking at the IOWA replay they could have made the argument that Brommer was shooting and should have gotten 3 ft's. It seemed to me he was trying to shoot the ball.

The announcers corrected the no TO comment and said they had two left when they called one before the Clemson ft. They called the play then so Clemson couldn't guard the inbounds. It makes sense to me really..
Now if Weber didn't like how things were going during the play he could have called one and regrouped.....bottom line...McCamey is still a bonehead

I saw the play also...and I know the possibility exists that Brommer was actually shooting, but...

--first, neither he nor the Iowa bench made any effort to petition the refs in that regard, so just maybe Brommer was just trying to save it inbounds.

--second, I watched the play several times as they also showed it again and again on the ESPN reports...
if you want the refs to actually make that call and think you were shooting, you should at least eye the basket, or make some attempt to turn and face it, and I can't say Brommer did either.
Thus, I think the refs simply couldn't conclude at all that it was a shot.

If Maryland plays like they did against Mich St then it also should be a close one. This game is at MD and expect this one to go to the wire.

Florida St @ NWrn - I'm not really sure about either team
Penn St @ Georgia Tech - GT should win
Michigan @ Maryland - toss up
UNC @ Mich St - UNC should not lose to anyone
Indy @ WF - WF has some studs and should coast in this one

MM I gues by the end of the night you will owe me 2 jars. LOL

          I'm going with:

          NW'rn
          Penn St
          Md
          UNC
          WF

          Yep - 2 jars.

My picks (and they're usually wrong):

            FSU
            GT
            Michigan
            MSU
            WF

Looks like the ACC again (but the B-10 is gaining ground)

My God! I'm watching the Wake Forest/Indiana game and Wake is "posterizing" the Hoosiers.

Watch for the highlights on this one...... It's gettin' real ugly for IU

Well so much for the Big 10 winning the challenge this year! UNC just dismantled Mich St. It was just ugly!

If Illinois would have won their game, the Big 10 would have won their first challenge. Way to take that timeout into the locker room with you Bruce!

Yea... if UIUC coulda held their home court.... if... - Oh well, back to things going as usual.

The ACC dominates the ACC/B10 Challenge and the MVC will get one bid to the NCAA (most likely in the 8-9 game to then take on UNC if they win.

I don't understand the beef there. BW called the play when he called the timeout before the ft. It makes sense instead of making an inbound pass.
The play was called and the players did not execute.....

I think if the game was on Mich St's real home court it would have been closer, but North Carolina still would have won easily. Maybe the Spartans were looking ahead to the Braves.

The players did not execute a play... hmm, IMO, that sits on the coaches shoulders.

Especially if you're not a fan of the coach or his team. What everyone seems to forget is that were 5 other guys out there trying to prevent them from executing.
