Agreed. He could have landed a scholarship at BU and been ready to play next fall. Instead, BU has filled it's need for big men and is likely looking in other directions. I'm sure they'd try to work something out with Cole, but he'd be going from one crowded front court to another. Honestly, I don't think he's any more talented than Egolf, Brown, or Prosser.

I don't think it works that way - you can't use 1/2 years of eligibility. When Cole played in a game this year, he burned his second year. If he were to transfer right now, he'd be eligible to play in December 2009, but that would use his third year. So, he'd play 1.5 seasons for a new school, unless he waited until fall 2010 to starting playing.

See Alex Legion as an example - he played 6 games at Kentucky, then transferred at semester break. Those 6 games burned his first year. He'll start playing soon for Illinois, and will have spring 2009 as his second year. He'll have two more seasons after this year. Transferring midyear really burns up eligibility quickly.

I would not wish it on my worst sports enemy, so this is purely hypothetical. (only thinking that way due to, unfortunately WE) But if Cole needed a medical redshirt now, could he transfer 2nd semester, and have 2.5 years at a new school?

Since Cole is not a player for Bradley, rumours and speculation are allowed (which at this point - I believe this is all it is).

I don't think that is correct. Danny Granger played 14 games for BU, transferred at break, and played 2 1/2 years at New Mexico. I believe you have 5 to play 4, and that a transfer at semester means you sit out 2nd semester your transfer year and the 1st semester of the following year, thus giving you 2 1/2 years left.

As far as the Cole stuff, it's speculation on my part. Just basing it on what I have seen and heard through the grapevine.

actually that is incorrect...

Danny Granger played about 1.5 years at BU, transferred to UNM, sat out a year, then started at 2nd semester and finished that 1/2 season and one more, so he only played 1.5 years at New Mexico.
I believe the fact that BU never released Granger from his scholarship played some part in that.

Illinois might still use him. As we've seen lately, injuries happen. Cole is probably the guy that enters the rotation if an injury occurs to Tisdale, Davis, Semrau, Keller, and maybe even Brock. I have no idea how happy or unhappy Cole is with the current situation, but there's a very real chance that he'll get into the rotation at some point this season, either by injury or by outperforming others in practice.
