  • I hate the idea of thinking about next year

I really hate to think about next year. This team is very strong right now and I believe will do nothing but continue to get better. We might have some serious interior issues but we have a very good overall team who continues to get better night in night out.

We know Egolf is done but it does not mean this season is finished. And I really dont think it is fair to Theron Wilson for us to think past this year into next.

I want to believe that DC will see the urgency and step up, but I think we will see all of our player step up and continue to grow as college basketball players. All of our adversity might just make our team unbelievably resilant and be one huge unbreakbable unit.

I really believe this team has a ton ahead of it this season... lets worry about redshirts and next season when the final horn sounds for this season, but until that happens lets all, just as our team will, come together and believe this season will be special.

We have so much play for and a team that has a lot of talent who will do something very special this year. Let next year be next year.

I agree, it is too early to think about next year, I agree with you that this team has an excellent chance to compete in the "No-big man-needed" Valley this year.

However, as far as DC is concerned I have to respectfully disagree. I agree that he may see the urgency to step up, but I honestly (and unfortunately) do not believe that he has both the ability and basketball IQ to step up. If Bradley is to compete in the Valley it must be with DC as a 5-15 mpg reserve, not as a starter. Can you say "Hello small ball"

If he didn't see the urgency last year when Matt Salley pushed him around and proved that an undersized under talented player could play a 5, and he didn't see the urgency this year when he was handed a starting spot on a platter, then really...do you honestly think that he is going to come around now?

He just doesn't have it and I hope it doesn't take the entire season for most of you (including the coaches) to see that.

There were more than a few reasons that Coach benched him the way he did...and given the opportunity he had last night and what he did with said opportunity, it certainly didn't phase him that he was benched...

I just pray that Elder Buescher and Versace talk some sense into the staff and they give AT a chance...

That being said, I hope at this point we're either hearing about Sam Singh or Taylor Brown in the starting lineup against the Spartans because at least they will have earned it and deserve it!

I personally do not think DC has the "want to" to be a big time college basketball player. He is pretty much who he is. BUT, I want to believe his light bulb will go off and he will see the opportunity that is sitting right infront of him.

But, I really do not believe he is what will make a difference for this season. If he contributes that is icing and great, but everyone else is a basketball player who wants to be the best he can be and that will and want will go a really long way this season.

Eventually Anthony Thompson will break through and we probably wont talk about DC any by Feb. Just a hunch.

There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

I am with you Houstontxbrave Wait tell next year is what you say if you are a North Sider (Cub Fan). I'm sure the hell not giving up on this year and I bet JL, coach's, and all the players are not. I'll bet WE wants to win this year and will supporting his teammates. WE is gone. He played in three games, he didn't set any records but he did bring some much needed punch to the team. Hopefully that stark will carry on. Wish him well on his recovery and let it go. Its time to concentrate on what we have and not what we would of and don't have.
What we have is a **** good team with some very good players with a lot of fire. The younger ones have shown they can play and want to prove it. They showed last night they can shoot. We may get AW back and may get another good 6'9 player after the first of the year. As for going small. giving up on the bigs and leaving 7', 6'10 and 6'9 sit, well, it just does not make sense. Nor will it win a MVC or any post season games. Its time to see what AT can bring, its time that SS looks to kick it up and start looking to taking it to the hoop and DC needs some of the players to kick him in the butt and then get what we can out of him. With all this, it is insane to give up on this group of players when there is so much BB to play and so much to gain. Yes, I still think we can win the MVC this year and I am sure the coach's and players do the same. Its no different today than it was last Monday. Someone else or some body's just have to step in/up.

I don't want to think about next year either, but one of the more frustrating things for me about WE's injury is that it seems likely to hurt us next year as well. Instead of starting an experienced center w/ 30+ games under his belt, it looks like we will again have a very inexperienced front court (to go with a very deep and experienced backcourt). Assuming WE comes back 100%, I don't think he will be the player he could have been next year if had he stayed healthy. I guess the silver lining is maybe he will be really good for us in 3 years, but I'm not patient enough for that to be reassuring now.

I agree. And if we have a good season and Egolf gets that extra year, this team can be scary good for the next few years.

I don't know if we can beat MSU in their place, but I think the Butler game will be a good test for us. They are better than a lot of people are giving them credit for, though I agree their #1 RPI ranking is a "bit" overstated to say the least. This should be a good test for the Braves. So will Wisc-Milwaukee to see if we can win on the road.

I hate thinking about next year too.

I think about each game. Every game is a big game. Period.

I would guarantee you that not one of our players or coaches is looking at next year and neither should any of the fans. BU still has a good team and their is a lot of basketball still to be played. Anybody who has thrown in the towel for this year (I know most of us have not) is going to miss this team mature and get better night after night. The MVC is not strong this year and I think we've got as good a chance as anybody to win it. Let's play with a chip on our shoulders and use Will's injury as motivation...not an excuse.

I too hate thinking about next year.

But, there is one part about next year that I am getting more and more excited about - Jordan Prosser. This kid is the real deal. I can't wait to see him in red and white.

Can you really have a "very strong" team or "good overall team" with "serious interior issues"?

                        Just asking....

                            In Texas anything is possible

I think we can have a good overall team with serious interior issues... BU has been that for 2 consecutive years.

I am not going to think about next year for a while. We're 4-2, and have suffered a couple of injuries. We have a LOT of games to go, and who knows how this will all turn out.

                              Negatives--
                              Injuries to Warren and Egolf
                              Lackluster play from DC

                              Positives--
Very strong play by CR who seems to be improving and adapting to D1 play with every week
                              Good contributions by our freshmen
Maniscalco fighting through an injury and logging a couple of very good games
Theron Wilson rebounding just about everything

                              Result--
Gonna keep watching and see how the team handles Egolf's injury.
