    Wright State - RPI 336
    Houston Baptist - RPI 339
    Winston Salem - RPI 255

nice try.....but the opponents for ISU are in a whole different RPI-universe from BU's opponents.

See the thread about BU's upcoming opponent being the 31 RPI and #1 SOS team!

I would say it is equally naive for anyone to be using realtimerpi.com as the primary means to compare teams at this point in the season. Just look at where some teams are slotted in the realtimerpi right now...it is comical.

Evansville is #6 in realtimeRPI right now...so you must believe they are going to run away with the Valley this year...right?

Illinois is #7 in the realtimeRPI right now...so I assume you must be penciling them in for a 30 win season and a Big Ten championship...right?

George Mason is #8 in the realtimeRPI right now...even though they have lost to the "powerhouse" Hampton squad already this year and have beaten no one of consequence. If this realtimeRPI is such a great tool to compare the strength of different teams, explain to me how George Mason is anywhere near the top of these rankings....can you?

Arkansas State is #11 in the realtimeRPI right now...do you believe they are one of the top 20 teams in the country? You must, since the almighty realtimeRPI says so.

Oh and if you still think there is any shred of credibility in these hoky early season RPI rankings...North Carolina is #15 right now...even though they are 5-0...they have demolished Notre Dame and every other team they have played...they are the undisputed #1 team in the country...and yet this silly realtimeRPI tool has Evansville 8 spots ahead of UNC...Evansville, who has beaten Buffalo and Austin Peay and gotten destroyed by a down Butler team...they have somehow graded out above UNC in this goofy realtimeRPI system...

So do you still put you blind faith in these RPI numbers this early in the season? I would certainly hope you aren't that naive.

Seriously if ISU puts a good product on the floor versus good competition Basketball fans will come out an support their program... they have in the past.

But when you play poor comepetition throughout your non conference only the die hards will make it a point to get out and support the program.

I truely believe you substitute Winston Salem State with lets say DePaul.. they have 7500+ in house.

True. But I'm sure if you looked at ETSU's RPI over the last 10-15 years you would also see that they are a Top-100 school.

I think he's admitted enough that there are teams where the rpi is going to shift significantly and that there are flaws in it this early. However, I think the reason why he is posting the rpi's for those teams that ISU has played so far is because those rpi's aren't likely to change much. Let's come back to reality a bit and look at this logically. Yes Evansville will not be a top 10 rpi team but every single team that ISU has played so far will not likely finish above 200 rpi barring Wright State. The bottom line is ISU is playing a terrible schedule and people need to stop complaining about it and about listing their rpi's. We all know they are bad teams and its fun to poke fun at how weak of a schedule ISU has...and rpi does that.

Just like we hope you aren't naive enough to believe that Nicholls State is as good of a team as ETSU

They are NOT used when it could help a non-BCS team and ARE used when it can help a BCS team get into the field of 65
I am late to this discussion, but I must admit I agree with this. The RPI is a tool created to help the selection committee (explain why they selected 20-7 Syracuse over 18-12 Non-BCS team). Then SOS was discussed as reasons for taking BCS schools over Non-BCS.

Now the hot talk has been why the RPI is an out-dated junk tool the Mid-Majors have exploited to get at-large considerations.

Explaining the pluses and minuses of RPI and SOS to the committee is like explaining to a child why you didn't tell them that Santa Claus isn't real.

                  Whew - wow.

Ok - they don't believe in Santa Claus. They ARE Santa Claus and they are deciding on who gets a new toy this Christmas. And they change their criteria every year to fit their field of participants.

No idea why you are directing this statement to me...I never made any claim that Nicholls State and ETSU were equivalent basketball programs.

I guess I just happen to disagree. They only averaged around 6,000 the entire season last year and that includes conference games! They had a "good product" last year too.

I don't care who the opponent is, there should be more than 4,125 in the stands for your home opener!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

There weren't 4125 in the stands unless they were hiding under their seats...
and these are the prime seats right at midcourt in the lower bowl that are 50-75% empty!

While the attendance was certainly weak, so say 50-75% of prime seats were empty is a bit of a stretch...

was that at the end of the game or halftime? (the shot clock is off)
Maybe it was after they allowed upper bowl fans to move down, or it shows the additional fans who arrived to see the later game.

Anyway....Santa Barbara wore yellow uniforms, so that picture isn't even of the same games we are talking about...

Here are some from the Santa Barbara game...

                              and here

                              showing lots of open seats.

I guess we are talking about 3 different games then because the pics you originally posted are from the Winston Salem State Game. The pics I posted were from Nicholls State Game (both have red uni's)... and now you mention the Santa Barbara game for the 1st time.

To answer your question... it was at the end of the 1st half... which means some people have already left their seats to go to the Redbird room...and you have to show your ticket to get into the lower bowl so no fans are allowed from the upper bowl...just an FYI
